Drew Brees Bowman Chrome auto RC eBay steal in hand

Thought I would share maybe my best buy ever on eBay. I was browsing the "ending soonest" auto listings on eBay yesterday afternoon and was surprised to come across a listing for Brees' best rc with the bidding at only $290 with an hour left. I placed a maximum bid of $320 for the heck of it before I went out not expecting to win the item but I was pleasantly surprised when I came home a couple hours later to find out that I won the auction. I know that I was taking a risk because the seller had only previously bought items on eBay but he had great feedback so I took the chance and was surprised when the card was overnighted to me today via UPS Ground free of charge. I think that the title not mentioning that there are only 25 copies and the card being the first card the seller has sold contributed to the relatively low ending price but I think I got a great deal considering that his Contenders RC has been selling for $400+. I called it a steal because there are only 25 copies to go around and I think that card has a chance to hit $1000 if Brees and the Saints make it deep into the playoffs.

Very nice win no so much of a steal I don't think personally but definitely rare

I just saw that one actually ended for $260.00 with free shipping which is a bigger steal than mine but the one that is currently up for auction is at $309.00 with 2 days left. I know that the Bowman Chrome auto isn't part of the regular set but it is still an on card auto as opposed to the Contenders which is a sticker.

Nice card.....hard to tell the quality of the auto....on the chromes they seem to be spotty at best.

I doubt you will receive it if you paid for it a month ago. The Contenders autos have been ending for $340+ so the seller probably saw that and doesn't plan on sending the card. You will likely have to file a claim with Paypal to get your money back because there has been a sharp increase of thief sellers on eBay who like to keep people's money and not send their item with the economy the way it is.

I don't believe all of the autos in that subset were limited to 25. The LT brought serious money when it got out that only 25 were released of him. Does anyone know the story on it?

One of the biggest misconceptions from 2001 Bowman Chrome... They are limited to 50, not 25. The veteran autos are a lot more plentiful than that, but the autos, they are 50. Got that info straight from Topps back in 2001. Still a great card, too bad the autos on the 01 BC are disappearing and will soon be gone for good.

As for Brees, I narrowly missed out on what to me is his best RC, the 2001 Playoff Absolute RPM auto (First 25 of 850 are signed)... I was sad.

agree, i never touched an lt because of the auto issues
