When I was living in the bay area, he drove me nuts with the giants. I am an angels fan. I moved to the bay area and started liking the giants too. 2002 was easy for me, angels were my team. I have said many times, 2002 was the battle between which mgr would do the most to lose, not the other way around. Scioscia and dusty are both horrible.

The guy is terrible.

How does he continue getting jobs?

the reputation of getting teams to the postseason or staying in contention until the end so your September ticket sales don't suffer.

With the way he handled Cueto in a must-win game tonight, I think the Reds should can him tomorrow.

I have no idea. I didn't watch the game, but I'll say that I don't understand why Cueto would be starting his first game in months...in an elimination game. They would have won the division if Baker 1. knew how to set a lineup(ex: sticking zack cosart in the #2 hole half the year) and 2. Utilized Chapman efficiently.

Dusty Baker is just AWFUL!

Baker gets a ton of grief but the man has won a ton of games and gotten his teams to the playoffs many many times.

Not sure how much info was released to the nation but Cueto was basically the only starter ready to go.

Latos, Bailey, Arroyo- all hurt
Leake is a 5th starter who was likely to be left off the expanded postseason roster.

Cueto was the only option.

Or....he could have reversed the game and announced Aroldis Chapman as his starter.

The players lost the game last night. It was nice to see the Reds play like total crap. Go Pirates.

Cueto got rocked by a team that wanted it more. The Reds haven't showed any want or will to win in the last 10 games they played. When Gomez snagged the homerun from Bruce in Milwaukee, that took any and all wind out of their sails. Lost the Milwaukee & Chicago series and Swept by the Pirates in the last 15 games. Cueto didn't loose that game, the offense did!

Arroyo wasn't hurt. It's just that he pitched over the weekend...

Local reports said he was hurt (back;pitched through it last weekend and got shelled) therefore he would possibly not be available for the now not needed St. Louis series.

Bronson has been an extremely forthright guy his whole time in Cincy. If he wasn't dinged up, I highly doubt he would concoct a story of a bad back to explain his poor performance over the weekend.

"News: Arroyo was pitching with a bit of a back problem in Saturday's disastrous start against the Pirates, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. [+]"

I've gotten to watch a lot of Dusty's managerial career thanks to being televised on WGN (Cubs) and local stations (Reds). Without a doubt, his management of pitching staffs is legendarily BAD! You can be deemed a "player's manager" and all that nonsense, but the inability to properly manage resources is inexcusable. He has a job because he's a baseball guy and because he helps MLB meet their EOE requirements (that is not meant to sound offensive).

His offense gave up two home runs early in the game?

I understand what you're saying but the offense did nothing to counter the 2 homeruns. Cueto pitched them but the offensive bats need to come out swinging and get runners on and in.

Dusty has always made bad calls when it comes to the pitching staff. All you need to do is watch games 6 and 7 of the 2002 World Series......f'n Dusty killed the Giants with the choices he made in those two games.

Bryan Price is the guy I think they will be looking at. He Knows the game and team really well and was considering managing before the season started.
