Hi all:

I built a complete set of 2006 Exquisite Maximum Jerseys Silver. There are 83 cards in the set, and the set is numbered to #75.

For reference, the cards look like this:

Now, I'm in the process of selling off my collection for a pending engagement, but I really have no idea how to sell this thing. Any suggestions? I don't necessarily want to break it apart, but I would if needed. I just don't know how to go about selling something this expensive. I guess I should have thought of this before I built it, but hindsight is beautiful...

Thanks!

give the Polamalu to me.....sell the rest ;) .....just kiddin'.....I would think that breaking it up and selling them all individually in live auctions would be your best bet......you could try listing the set with a BIN/OBO and see if you get any offers you like.

Thanks. I'll probably list BIN/BO over the weekend for 7 days, and then break it up. It took a long time to build, so it's hard to break it up.

If there were a Polamalu in the set, I'd send it your way, but alas, I have 2006, not 2007. If I had known what 2007's player selection would have been like in 2006, I would have chosen 2007, since it is a really nice selection.

oh, that's right....he's in 07  anyways, I wish you the best of luck getting the most money possible for the set......I'm sure it's a sweet looking set in it's entirety!

Dont do the BIN for 7 days. Use the good until canceled option (35 cents a month). Take some time and make a real nice listing and come up with a good title. It is off season right now but as the draft, training camps preseason all get closer fans will start getting the itch for anything football. Come up with a high but reasonable BIN and accept offers and wait it out. I'm sure getting engaged has you scrambling for cash but why not wait and get a good price for it.

Throw up with a high BIN/BO to test the set waters, then bust it up if you don't get any decent offers, simple enough.

Can't hurt to set the auto decline to filter out all the lowball bidders. If you wait it out eventually you will get a reasonable price. Plus, do you really want to do all the work involved in listing the cards individually, invest your time in one sweet listing.

I agree with Bo (flightposite). Not really a better option in a situation like this.

Thanks everyone.

I really appreciate the advice. I will list it as a set sometime within the next seven days. I have a fairly reasonable figure in mind for what I'm willing to take for it, so I think it will go well. Although I've sold quite a bit on eBay, I've never heard of the "Good 'Til Cancelled" option, so I think I'll try it out. In the meantime, if you guys want to check the set out, I'll put up the link to my photobucket here:

I think it's pretty neat, the set is alphabetized so you can click through to find the player you like. The Brady/Roethlisberger/Marshall cards are probably the nicest-looking.

Again, thanks so much!
