Hey all,
I broke some 2010 Bowman Chrome and pulled a Chapman auto.
It is the only one I pulled. And I even offered a supersized pic in the listing so a buyer could look at card blown up.
The buyer received it today and this was the message I received:

Hi. There are two problems with the card you sent me. I don't believe this is the same card that you pictured. The autograph is smudged on the card and the centering is not the same as pictured. Let me know how you would like to rectify this problem.

I guess it could be a case of buyers remorse b/c they have come down in price over the past week and a half.
How would u guys handle this?
Thanks guys,

sour grapes or a prospector bought it. just tell him to send it back and issue a refund as there isn't much else you can do.

He said the buyer got it today....

Anyway, to the OP: I would tell the buyer to return it at his expense and give a refund when you get it back. Then block the buyer's ebay ID. Unfortunately, it's the best course of action to avoid a potential negative, even if it is an obvious case of buyer's remorse (although the buyer could still leave one after he gets a refund if he wanted to be a real dick about it).

You have no recourse---because Ebay HATES you.

After all---You're just a seller.

Yeah, the problem here is you are a seller. The buyer will get their way, like a spoiled 6 year old that screams until they get their way.

I have had numerous buyers bring something up and ask "how are you going to rectify this?" When it is something minor, it just makes me laugh. Ebay has gotten so powerful that buyers see these situations as a way to get something free, and it ticks me off.

I had a shop owner buy 3 Strasburg BC rookies frome me, and apparently doesn't like the condition of the cards. He asks me how I'm going to rectify it, and I tell him to send them back and I will refund him if he doesn't like the cards. However, I know he was looking for a discount on the cards, for them free, or something else to sweeten the deal.

I'm sick of this entitlement mentality of buyers. They are just trying to squeeze anything they can out of sellers, and it's becoming pretty annoying.

Now, I would say you could try and fight it-but in the end, eBay and PayPal are going to rule in favor of the buyer. You might as well offer a refund(have him pay S/H), and be on your way.

Well from your super sized picture I could see the smudge he was talking about. I think that should have been in the listing some where, since he was most likely getting it graded if it looked good auto and center and edges surface too. And since he said it was smudged it is in fact the card you listed.

Just tell him to send it back to you at his expense and then refund him the money upon you getting it.

Hope he's not setting you up here. As in he's hoping you take the card back and issue a refund. He then sends you his smudged up chapman card that he either pulled or got in some way. Nothing you'll be able to do about it.

I wonder what would happen if sellers put the card in a toploader with a tamperproof sticker over the top (if the card isn't serial numbered) and added to their return policy that cards can be returned within 7 days for refund if the card hasn't been removed or the toploader tampered with and if the card is mailed back to the seller.

You know....that's a very good idea.

eBay will not honor that, believe me. Some sellers use those and it is just a deterrent really. It is not guaranteed as a return policy be eBay. You can still get refunds even if the seller uses those.

If it's not something provided by or recognized directly by paypal/ebay, it doesn't matter. Just like saying payment must be made in 24 hours, for example. You still have 3 days, or whatever it is, provided by ebay before you need to pay before they will do anything.

tnt uses those stickers to seal the loaders.

I always find them funny because he puts a business card in the loader so you can't see the card without breaking that sticker.

It's all cool though, tnt is the man

Manufacturers of sports cards probably need to serial number everything then. It seems -- based on reading this thread -- it's too easy to pull a switch-a-roo such as buy a clean auto and return a smudged auto for refund if there is no serial numbering to identify a specific card.

still not enough to keep the thieving morons at Ebay and Paypal from issuing a refund in the buyers favor
