Hello,

A tad off topic since it has to do with a camera, but I figured many of you have sold expensive cards and have been down this road.

Anyway, I chipped a regular camera to shoot in Infrared, making it expensive. I started the listing at 200 and it didn't sell the first two times I listed it despite having 78 watchers ::facepalm::

So someone emails me this morning and offers 230 dlv for it. I accept and change the auction to a BIN w/free shipping for 230. Well guess what? Some ****** in Paris buys it before my buyer in Tenn. can

Enough about me, here's the question. The guy has 71 feedback, all positive. His address is unconfirmed with paypal. He also emailed me to have it shipped to his office instead (A university office in paris) He also added 7.00 bucks in shipping, even though the BIN had free shipping on it. Ebay mighta forced that on him though.

Guy paid right away, and probably is legit but I'd rather just sell it to the guy in Tennessee that I had intended to sell it too.

Do I have any legal recourse here? Or should I send it to Paris and hope this guy doesn't try to paypal dispute me or some garbage like that? :?:

Block foreign accounts but then go back and allow certain people that you check out to bid by making them exempt. On this one, take the negative and sell it to the guy that you had the deal with. Sending electronics to other countries is a great way to get screwed.

How can I get out of legally sending it too him though? He did pay fast and his address is a Dr. at the University lab there.

What could the buyer actually do to screw me? If I have DC, I could prove he got it, no?

He's in France. I wouldn't worry about it. The legal binding contact etc. Even if you have dc, which will be expensive, paypal will say you are screwed.

Can I just cancel a winning bid at my discretion?

And if I do and refund his paypal, do I still have to pay all those F'in fees?

thanks for the help by the way

You might want to see if you can talk him in to a mutual call off of the whole deal. That's what I would try first and be sure to explain that you do not wish to ship it over seas.

100 % scam, thats what they do over there. he gets it, files, gets money back.
doesnt always work, but causes major hassle for lots of sellers. refund his money and tell him you were listing it as a private auction, it was not intended to be sold openly. he will just move on to the next one most likely.

Ok, thanks dudes!

I emailed the guy I had the original deal with. Once he says a-okay, I'll fix this.

One n00b question though.....how do I cancel a bid?  ::facepalm::  :|
