I thought i would post this on the box break forum maybe someone else knows the situation or what to do. Months ago i purchased a spot in a box break from (big-boy-breaks-2011) and this person mysteriously vanished as a user on eBay. From the looks of it, he was up and running up until August. Box breaks were posted on ustream as well. I am also apparently not the only one who got screwed; because my payment was more than 45 days out i am screwed and can't get a refund.

Any help?

also, if you are big-boy-breaks-2011 and you are reading this please make this right...if you are running on hard times go ahead and let me know, refund my money, no hard feelings.

Sorry to hear about your troubles that sucks. You should try All in cards on future breaks he is the best in the business

You should look on ebay for your card to see if this guy is scamming you. Post the card here the more eyes the better

Hey he lives in my town, get me a video from one of his breaks and I will see if the local card shop guy knows who it is. Maybe he can ask whats up. If it is the Granite City guy that tried to pull a .99 cent auction with 100 dollar shipping then claimed he did'nt know any better.

This is why I am hesitant to give others the breaking freedom that Andrew has on this site.

Smart move man...Smart move. Keep it to where you know who is legit.

I remember seeing this guy list group break slots on ebay. He posted the auctions like 2 months before the product came out. So if you bought a spot, you would naturally wait past the 45 days, and are then out of luck because paypal wont do the refund after 45 days. it's a pretty smart scam, really, and then you can just close your ebay account down and keep all of the money like Big Boy.

I am one of these victims as well. I purchased into both case breaks he was running. He had great feedback and didn't seem like anything was wrong. Until he up and vanished off of Ebay. I did a request through ebay for the sellers information.

The phone number does go to a land line but it just rings. No voicemail or anything. I tried emailing him through the email he has with Paypal and it has gone unresponded. I even made an account on Ustream and posted a comment on his page. Nothing. If someone really does live in the city with him... and maybe knows him... try asking what's going on. He screwed over a ton of us. Here is a link to his ustream videos if you can recognize him.

If anyone can give any information that would be awesome.

I live IN Granite City. It is my hometown and I still live there I will see if I can figure it out. If I can find my old PMs I had with him he does say what his favorite shop is so we will see what happens.

That would be awesome if you could figure out some of his information. I wonder if this could be considered a felony? Or some kind of fraud. Because really wouldn't the ebay auction represent a contract? And if he scammed us and took our money without delivering the product, could the court system view it that way?

I just think it is completely wrong what happened and he shouldn't be able to get away with it. Not with my money at least.

Actually I purchased my lots within 45 days of when the product was going live. But then Topps pushed back the release of the product. If it wasn't for that I would have been able to still open a case through Paypal and Ebay. But since they pushed the release back, it put nearly everyone past the 45 day mark. Maybe that was the trigger for him to close his account once he realized everyone was past the date they could open a case. I don't know.

Update

I have contacted both Ebay and Paypal regarding the situation with this seller. Both stated the same thing, because it is passed the 45 day mark there is nothing they can do especially since the seller is no longer registered with Ebay. So they would no longer have his information besides what I got from Ebay previously about the seller. So I started doing some searching and found a few "Billy R Norton" phone numbers and addresses from Granite City, IL. I was even able to find his d.o.b. of December 1978 lol. I am going to go through the list of phone numbers and see if I can track this guy down. More people are starting to post on his Ustream site regarding this. Looks like this bandit made out with a couple thousand maybe.

If anyone lives in the area and knows anything any help would be appreciated.

Shame that happened to ya man.

Big Boy was doing a ton of stuff and preselling very early.

I'm pretty new to this site, but from what I've read there are a lot of members on this site who hate ebay breaks, so I wouldn't doubt if a bunch of people on here are the reason behind ebay kicking them off. Ebay didn't pay any attention to breaks, but shortly after a big conversation on this site, they are forbidden. On a site where I see a conversation about almost everything, the end of ebay breaks doesn't even get mentioned. Probably because it was a hidden conversation.

Collecting is supposed to be fun. Seems like a lot of people on this site like to ruin it for others.

Keep an eye out, you'll find someone selling team breaks in some format or another. I hear Blowout might be setting something up soon.

ebay box breaks were never allowed nor a good idea. Yes they slipped by, but so do fakes, altered, counterfeit etc.

They are still on ebay.

"a lot of people on this site like to ruin it for others." Yeah, alot of knowledgable people on here help inform others of hobby fraud or the potential of. Ones who usually get hurt are the scammers and the uninformed. Not saying you are either. ebay box breaks are too risky and better to do with a collector you know/trust. Even on video you can swap packs/boxes/ with resealed ones, swap hits etc. That's if they even come thru, as with this case.

You even said it yourself that you were looking for box breaks without having to go thru the hinderance of ebay. Well you are on the right track. Join boards, learn about the break results and breakers and go from there.

Happy Hunting.

People should then point out the scammers, and not include everyone who does them by saying Ebay breaks overall are a risk. It's kind of like saying all Dodgers fans should be held accountable for the beating the Giants fan took.

And the reason why ebay breaks are not allowed, is because of Paypals rules. Pretty sure everyone who is doing breaks is accepting paypal, even the guy on here.

About breaks on ebay, It's not that it was a break that the guy didn't get his cards, it's about the seller not sending cards,
It just so-happened that this seller sold a group break.
Sellers presell a product, get paid and then the product gets delayed and its past the 45 day point and the seller doesn't deliver the cards..
Sound familiar? It has nothing to do about selling breaks, It's about not getting what you paid for.
The reason the breaks on ebay are getting shut down, is because of some wording rules, "links" being in the description, the word "Random" in the description.
Other than that they are allowed...
You cannot sell "slots" on ebay and "Random" off teams. That is not allowed...
Sellers are allowed to sell a Team lot without listing every single card they are selling. A team break is no different except the seller doesn't know whats in the lot until its sold.

Yeah, that's what I'm hearing. I talked to that Crazy8 guy, who I dealt with the most. He said he'll be back on ebay soon, so hopefully all will be good again.

I just can't see spending $50 on a case break not knowing what team I'm going to get.
