EDIT: Penguins clinch a spot in the playoffs & at least 6th

with a 6-4 victory over the Lightning tonight the Pens have clinched a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 3rd straight season.

when Dan Bylsma took over as head coach the Pens were 2 games over .500 and in 10th place with pretty much no shot at making the playoffs. since the coaching change the Pens have gone 16-3-4 and have moved into 6th in the East and have secured at least 7th in the East.

Just goes to show you how much of a difference a new coach can bring to a team. Therrien taught the team the defensive aspect of the game and being accountable, now Bylsma has come in and is letting them spread their wings offensively. I can't wait to see who we play in the playoffs, it's should be very interesting.

I hope it's the Devils. I would love to see Fleury and Brodeur go head to head in a playoff series.

with their 6-1 win over the Islanders last night they have clinched at least 6th in the East and if they beat the Habs on Saturday and the Canes and Flyers lose they will move into 4th and have home ice in the first round .
