so, as most of you know i have been trying to get all the 08 collegiate
patches from elite. ive been conversing with one of the other guys trying to
get the set, when yesterday around 6:00 he sent me this message thru ebay.
please note i do not know the truth to this, he wont respond to my emails now:

Dear boomo,

hey there Matt. Shawn here again. I have a question for you. last night I pulled a Rick Porcello superfractor from bdpp. I was wondering if you might know what that might go for on the market? Any info would help me out a lot. Thanks again Shawn

take it for what it is, he is not a full time collector and has never sold on ebay, so i dont know what he will do, i told him
of course i was interested, he says he told one other person. i made him an offer, and havent heard back, i have emailed him 3 or 4 times.

Biggest shame of the card season is that Porcello's BCDP RCs aren't autographed.

Just another Topps' blunder.

Note: Not said to diminish the card. The same concept be said for '07 Price and Moustakas, one year after they fixed the blunder with Gordon by including his auto in draft. They did the same with Engel Beltre this year.

Topps is run like a bunch of lazy stoners.

"Hey, don't you think we should include the number one pick in baseball as one of our premium autographed cards in our year-ending draft set?"

"Nah whatever. Let 'em wait until next year. We'll use the Price auto to pump up the crappy lineup we include in the non-autographed portion of next year's set."

Porcello was terrific in High A at 18-19. Should have been the autograph everyone was after, and could have very well been the player on the box's lid.

Razor's Brian might fix it all in due time, and give us what we want.

From all your posts, it looks like technology is the next bound to hurdle.

Maybe snag a Porcello exclusive contract as well.

Wasnt "needed" from 1948 to 1998, and before the "well, they made a gazzillon of PLAYER X"
people start posting, i have collected baseball cards since 1980, and realize the millions of
forests that were sacrificed to make those rookie cards.

What's the point of a base set if you are just going to put all of the top guys as autos? The Autos were already very very strong. How about they just include one auto, and then the parallels in a box and no base cards? I don't see the point in busting if there is not at least a somewhat solid base set incase you get hosed on autos. Without Porcello,, the base set probably would grade at about a D rather than a C- (in my opinion).

I could have sworn there was a prior topic that had an ebay link to it. I could be mistaken though.

That's all well and good, but he is a Donruss exclusive. The AFLACs were signed pre-contract with Donruss. I just tried to find the info on the length of time, but I can't find it. So maybe it's only a year, and Topps can get him next year.

Although, I guess your point is still valid in that Topps could have done what Donruss did.

Shows what I think of that set...I didn't know Porcello was in any other sets.

However, I should hold a contest for one of the tickets from his pro debut.

Get that thing autographed and you'll have a nice collectible on your hands.

He's good...really good.

I saw him in Spring Training last year against Toronto and he looked good then. He pitched with veteran like confidence. He seemed more in command of the mound than the rest of the Tigers staff by far.

I find this comment very offensive. As a lazy stoner the thought of being compared to somebody that actually has a job really pisses me off
