Things have been pretty slow as of late but its days like today that help fuel the fire of my player collection. When I first started collecting I remember a collector of Albert Belle and that he had somewhere between 20-40 patterns of his Topps Tek set and so began my obsession with it. When I first started my goal was 20 different patterns which was accomplished rather quickly considering I purchased a lot of 9 of them at one time. My new goal was 40 of 60 or 66.7% of the set. I am slowly but surely approaching that goal. It is definitely one of my favorite sets that Chavez is in and having such a limited print run I am sure that I can continue to look for new patterns for years and never complete it, but the search is definitely 50% of the fun.

Very impressive! I have enough trouble tracking down the regular 98 Tek patterns, I can't imagine how your put together this many Golds #/10! At this point, why stop at 40, you might as well aim for all 60.

ballerskrip: Thanks for keeping an eye out for me. I haven't been to a card show for quite sometime either but even when I do, Chavez stuff is no where to be seen in Cincinnati. I always go to a day after Thanksgiving one at a local high school so maybe I can find a card or two that I need.

Brewer Andy: They sure are beautiful

nevermore: I can't decide whether or not I am happy Chavez is not in 98. I love the looks of the 98 base and diffractors but I don't know if I could handle two sets like this. Putting them has been a little bit of luck and a lot of money. They were orignally selling for $25-$40 when I first started collecting Chavez so many of those I had to pass on. More recently most sell for $10-$15 with only 1 or 2 selling for over $20 but at this point I can't really afford to let one pass so my snipes are usually $30+

markakis8: Yes I do, I completed the set a couple years ago, it was odd of the 3 Chavez collectors building the set all were missing the same pattern (I don't remember which one it was anymore) which was the last card I needed to complete the set. I have a feelilng that it has to be short printed compared to the others. As said above the Golds are /10 x 60 total patterns so there are 600 Golds out there total.
