Matt Cooke is a pretty polarizing figure, you either like him or hate him.

Evander Kane struck a blow for those who hate him.

Kane one-punched Cooke in his first NHL fight. I wouldn't have posted this if Cooke hadn't gotten up and skated off under his own power.

glad Cookie got up. that was one hell of a punch by Kane.

there was a real fight between Eric Godard and Eric Bolton that lasted 1:26 later in the same period.

Only thing that I wish is that it was Shawn Thornton throwing that punch instead of Kane...

I love the way this kid plays, one of the few bright spots for my thrashers. I am still convinced he doesn't break his foot and the thrashers are in the playoffs (he breaks his foot and thrashers go on a 6 game skid in march.......)

I think it is much better that payback came when he was expecting it rather than the way he would have delivered it. It's not demeaning to be ko'd when you are suckered. It is when you look for trouble and it hands you your butt.

The thing cooke forgot is Big E's dad trained professional boxers. I guess they know now. One of the few times this year I got to say i'm proud to be a thrashers fan
