I did a net search on Rinky-Dink stamps, because I discovered a lot pasted into a book 7 years ago... so one search comes up with a thread on Net54 Baseball card forum... now, let me back-track a little bit; the Rinky Dink "stamps" were actually printed in a few newspapers on Sunday's (I assume) in 1927. these were baseball player stamps, and the ones I came across (this is from memory) were Ruth, Cobb, Hornsby, Bucky Harris, Harris again, Pennock, and maybe a few others. While I sold all but one Bucky Harris on Ebay, I gave the other Harris away to someone on Beckett. After the auction, Bob Lehmke, the publisher of Sports Collectors Digest, emailed and asked if it was alright to use the pictures and information for his Annual. I was honored, and said yes, of course! -So naturally, every few months I look for Rinky-Dink stamps on Ebay. All that ever shows up is a bunch of Rinky-Dink records.

Fast forward to yesterday, and my search on Yahoo... and Net54 comes up with a thread on the stamps, and sure enough I go to the site and read that the site founder bought a complete sheet of these stamps on ebay. He provided three pictures. I click, and find that I am not authorized to open the pictures because I am not registered. So... I register as MoonlightGraham, and wait to be approved.

I go back to the site today, and try to access it again:

So... if anyone can access this link http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0oGkkhmQ...H&icp=1&.intl=us&sig=fOJF0rKcss31pHFwXJp_EQ--

I would really appreciate seeing what the sheet looks like. All I really wanted to do is ask one of the posters if his Bucky Harris was given to him by a generous Beckett member... oh, well.

Assuming you really did nothing wrong... could be the victim of a broad IP address ban that happens to cover you.

Maybe, but I would think that there are a number of vintage collectors here that use their site. I've never been banned or suspended from any site... I sent this link to the webmaster over there.

I'm a member. Not sure why you would be banned like that, sorry. Maybe you Winnie'd your Winkle.

Here's the photos of the sheet for you. They were 1927, there was a copyright date on the bottom of the page with Chicago Tribune 1927.

Not quite pre-banned yet, but I signed up at a site over a week ago and still haven't gotten my activation email.

I would just get in touch with Leon. He's a reasonable guy from what I've seen.

Many of the people on that site have known each other for years and argue with each other often. On top of that, since they have known each other for years, I guess you could call it somewhat of a clique. I've pretty much been a lurker there for a few years now with some posts here and there and how you are treated is all dependent on how you act. I've never had any issues and when I've asked questions, they've always been answered with no problems. On top of it, there is nowhere else on the internet that you will find that much vintage knowledge all in one place and some amazing collections on top of it.

Sure, there are the bad apples, but what forum on the internet doesn't have any of those?

Actually, a lot of the members there are extremely successful businessmen who have collections we could only dream of owning. I do agree though; there are a lot of argumentative pricks.

What someone does for a living, how much money they have or what kind of a sports card collection they have doesn't impress me in the least. I am a member there and have been for quite some time. My take on most there stands. There are a few decent guys there that are great to talk to and then there are the pompous, windbags that like to argue and puff up their chests while bragging about this and that. Douches in my book, but to each their own. If you like it there, it's all you.

I do agree with RiceLynnEvans75. Those types are everywhere. Probably why I only enjoy chatting with about 7-8 members here. I've found 7-8 guys here that I wouldn't mind calling friends if we were to ever meet off the boards. They are void of BS, drama, arrogance etc. They seem to be genuine, down-to-earth people who enjoy their hobby and enjoy talking to others about it. If we've exchanged more than 4 friendly PM's/emails then you should know who you are LOL.

No, I don't like it there. I don't like Leon Luckey. Nor the Behrens brothers, nor Greg (BOTN, don't remember his last name), nor Hal Lewis, nor...I don't even know who's still there. I haven't been around since '04.

Ironically I like Mike Wentz...everyone else hates him. He's always been cool with me

Other than Leon, I think all the guys you mentioned are gone. There was some sort of issue on that board a few years back and some guys started another vintage site that isn't bad but doesn't get as much traffic. I'm pretty sure the Behrens brothers are in that one. My primary interest there lies in the B/S/T.

Net54 is a probably the best place on the web for vintage info. And it's just like here, Beckett, the Bench, Game Used Universe, Sports Card Forum or any other major collecting forum... you usually get out what you put in, and you're usually treated as you treat others. Something to be said for the "golden rule" in life and message boards.

The guys at Net54 have gone out of their way to help me research Cap Anson and Hack Wilson collectibles, assisting me in acquiring scans of about every vintage card made for those two. In some instances, members have made special trips to retreave items out of safety deposit boxes to scan them for me. Some outstanding knowledge on that site, and if you treat others with respect, they usually do the same.

Sorry your experiences have not mirrored mine.

Thanks everyone, and especially JBHofmann. Mr Lackey was kind enough to contact me and let me know that the banishment was because my personal info hadn't been input yet. The banning thing is to deter Bot's...

Hey Guys
I am the "Leon" in question. I don't get around to too many different forums but figured I would sign up and post a thing or two. First of all I am sorry if I ever pissed anyone off on Net54baseball.com. It usually isn't my intention to do that. That being said I am sure the moderators here will vouch for the statement "you will never please everyone all of the time". Net54baseball.com is in fact a nice chatboard (I am biased) for talking about vintage cards and memorabilia. That being said there are definitely some ******** on there. Unfortunately, just being one of those won't get you banned. Breaking the very lenient rules will but it's pretty hard to do. As for the original poster in this thread being banned, he is absolutely correct. It was totally administrative. The software we use is very popular and people write scripts to register trolls (BOTS) by the hundreds, actually by the thousands, as there have been around 7000 in one year. If anyone registers over there and doesn't get a response within 2 days, it should be 1 day, you can always email me at [email protected]. We do have a good collector base for pre-war cards and of course there will always be those that have to have the "my Rinky Dink is bigger than your Rinky Dink" mentality but that just goes with the territory. This seems like a well run forum and I am happy to have another place to post a little bit. All collecting is good collecting in my book. Here is a nice vintage card for your perusal. Take care and best regards

Seriously, ridiculous card.

Anyways, glad to see a member from Net54 over here. I enjoy just browsing through the forums from time to time and seeing some really awesome cards.
