the usps claimed the item has been delivered but the item never actually showed up and im thinking that the mailman dropped off the package at someone elses house. it states that the item was delivered and i actually took the mail from my postman the day that it states that the item arrived but no package. . then i call paypal and they say im SOL. im getting sick of ebay as well since i had 3 claims open right now of people that dont deliver their stuff.

1 guy- i dont have time to get to the post office

another guy- i have had family issues and i sent it, i ask for dc#, i dont have one and he sent a week later late.

another guy- doesnt answet paypal or me through ebay so......

what the heck is going on.

That happened to me 3 time last year.
Ironically it was the 3 days my regular guy was off.
I did eventually get them 1 from a neighbor and the others for
people who did not even live my sub-division

Good Luck hope it works out for you

Happens quite often to be honest. Also happens alot that they dont actually track packages with DC#'s. They will simply tell you that you arent paying to have the packaged tracked only to tell you if it has been delivered. As well they will not guarantee you the delivery address is the actual one it was delivered to.

Never happened to me, but I did get 3-4 packages shipped via Online USPS to other houses in the neighborhood when I lived in FL. I guess the mailman got lazy since me and my brother got tons of bubble mailers a week. I'd either hand it back to the mailman the next day or just put it in my mailbox for him to take back. Sucks to hear it happened to you, but maybe it'll turn up eventually.

D/C only checks to see if an item gets delivered to a zip code, right? If so I don't know why we don't hear about more scam artists who send empty packages with D/C to some other address within the same zip code.

Nobody better get ideas from this.

the amount of people who wait 7-10 days after getting paid is stunning. I just keep giving one star for shipping I will never understand it, i ship stuff the day paid if by noon, and the next day after noon, and i still have losers leave me less than 5 stars. Has bugged me for a while now. when i get paid, why do i want the card or whatever sitting around any longer?
I try hard to keep a list of good fast sellers, and i always check there stuff. ebay and paypal could not possible suck any worse.

Thanks everone for letting me vent. This sucks. Just dropped 50 bucks down the toilet it seems. Its a feeling of disgust in my stomach to think im paying for cards im never going to see or get. This is a sad day in my card collecting career. Guess itts better to happen with 50 than 350. Just bought a card that was sent with deliver and signature confirmation and the postman dropped it off without me signing it. Luckily i got that one, if i want to look at it in a positive way but its hard. I guess it happens to everyone. Do you think a po box would help?

How the hell do they get away with this? When is anyone ever going to take responsibility?

It isnt their responsibility unless you purchase insurance or Signature confirmation.

It is their responsibility to make sure its delivered to the correct address no matter what you purchased for it.That's what I am getting at.

This is the exact reason i say in my auctions (insurance a must) and i charge 4.00 for shipping which also includes a padded envelope.

It doesn't seem to bother people at all and i never had complaints about it.

I think for the first $50.00 worth of insurance it's $1.70

Oh I've bumped head's with my post master over this many of times! It irks me to no end that we should have to pay the USPS insurance to make sure that "we" are covered for a job that "they" are required to do (I mean isn't that what we are paying them for initially???? Or was the $1.68 a tip of some kind for them taking the package out of my hand??? :| ).... I swear, if the local lawn care guy tried this sort of technique he would get laughed off the block:

Lawn Guy: That'll be $35 for a mow & edge & a $5 insurance fee in case I decide not to finish it today or in case my lawn mower breaks down & I have to come back & redo it (or I get a little lazy after my lunch break & decide that it looks like it's going to rain, in which case if you pay the $5 fee I'll come back; if not then you're SOL & your lawn won't get cut)

Get my drift? Why the hell are we having to pay the USPS an additional fee to make sure they accept responsibility for thier action's??? We paid you already to make sure the job was done right, now we have to pay you more so that you'll accept responsibility if you frig it up??? :| Ah man, this is one subject that rubs me the WRONG WAY! :|

I can do you one better. My last 2 experiences with UPS...

- Bought a case of 08 Bowman Draft, website tracking # showed that it was delivered AND signed for; apparently the DRIVER decided he would sign for my package that required a signature and also deliver it to a different house. After hours of phone calls, I get it a week later and lose money on the case.

- Bought a book on ebay, had it delivered to my new address (different state); I E-mail the seller and ask what is taking so long and he tells me that the tracking # shows I signed for the package and it was delivered 2 weeks earlier. Again, the driver signed for it and dropped it off somewhere else, and I'm s.o.l. and never had anything to show for it.

Moral of the story is SCREW UPS!!! I also had a driver cut me off and flip me the bird - in his truck. Way to represent the company!

It behooves me how my neighbors get my mail often, when I have the only Polish last name in the condo building. I always see the postal chick smoking butts and on the cell phone. Gotta leave Marlboros in my box I guess for a daily tip.

I'm currently appealing a case right now with paypal. I'm the seller and the USPS insurance number says item was delivered but the buyer claims he never got it. I'm 99% sure he's screwing me over. :x

I've probably seen a 50/50 split in whether DC actually works or not. A lot of times they don't get scanned on delivery, or they don't even get scanned when shipped. Using the automatic machine is a great timesaver, but most of the time the DC you get out of it is never even registered in the system.

In this veing, I almost got burned by a guy on ebay last year for a $50 comic (I was the seller). Guy wins the auction, pays promptly as I recall, and I send the book off. He leaves me positive feedback a week later, everything's fine. Then right at the 45-cutoff he files a Paypal dispute claiming he never received it. I check the DC number, and it shows as delivered. I check my feedback again, and it says it was delivered promptly, he's happy, etc. So I respond to Paypal with all the info and figure that'll be that. A week later I get a message from Paypal saying the claim was being settled in his favor. I freak out and call Paypal and ask how that could be. Turns out the guy's address is unconfirmed, which voids 'seller protection' and is pretty much carte blanche for people to claim they never received anything, despite all evidence to the contrary. It's apparently Paypal's position to side with the buyer in just about every case like this because they'd rather err on the side of caution, their reasoning being that some nefarious person might possibly have access to
a) the person's ebay account
b) the person's paypal account and
c) the person's mailbox
and use that access to buy comic books. Even though I had insured the book, since USPS shows it as being delivered and the recipient wasn't complaining, I'd have no recourse with them. They had no real answer to my question about how they could allow a person to have an unconfirmed address if that's the hinge on which buyer and seller protection policies swing, but they just said it was up to the seller to decide if they want to ship or not, like not shipping is really an option. Thankfully, they decided that since I've been a good customer for 8 years, they'd grant me a one-time courtesy waiver of the claim and give me my $50 back. So it ended well.

But jeez what a racket. This deal not only reinforced that you have to buy insurance to protect yourself, not the buyer, but also to only deal with confirmed addresses, no exceptions. This is a problem for me as I sell a lot of Magic cards and overseas markets represent a good percentage of my sales, but no longer. Asking someone to pay $20 required for the tracking for shipping a card to Thailand puts a damper on deals.

Yeah...that's when you go up there and jerk a turd out of someone's rear end.Trust me...I would not want to go up there and do anything to get put in jail but I certainly would not leave and I would certainly make a huge scene and hopefully all of the customers would hear whats going on and realize what kinda crap their pulling.I would sit there and make sure they know I'm not going to just drop it.I am sick and tired of people shirking responsibility. Its way past time for that to stop.

i know exactly what everyone is talking about. why do i have to pay for an item that wasnt delivered, then have to dealo with the issues. not to mention it was a new driver bt the old driver always notices that i have these packages coming my way and is always on the lookout. this is sickening to know that we pay to "not get oumail delivered to us." i guess im SOL and this sucks. i guess im not the only one in the boat. thanks to everyone who wrote a message and i wish there was a better way to send stuff.
