Won this card for $16 shipped. Great! Have 6 of his matching plates so they will go nice together. Until I get a refund and email saying he dropped it. I respond asking for proof and saying he didn't like sale price etc. Then immediately email saying I'll still buy it dinged and tell him I have 6 plates etc. email again today asking to buy the card for original auction price. I rec'd these pics and a note saying he had his kid do this after I called him a liar. :-?

So....

you flat out called him a liar right off the rip?

Yeah right. I'll take it bent. I have 6 of his printing plates. This Red would be awesome to go with it. Pic of said damage or not happy with price. If the later, what price are you wanting fo rit, keep in mind his cards go for cheap. I paid $13.50 ea. on average for his Bowman plates.

Looks like I did. Lesson learned. I just now asked for it creased PWE and either he's still messing with me or will send it.. Still like to have it.

Leading with name calling is usually not a good idea.

To be clear, I think the seller was totally in the wrong. Just saying that a different approach to his scumbag tactics may have gotten you what you want.

Yeah in hindsight, I agree. I got kinda mad quick as I felt $16 was a great price and was real happy until I rec'd a refund. Now I'm remembering a thread on here? or BO or Topps that some guy was kinda bragging about destroying cards (some valuable) over petty issues.

It's possible this was done by a kid...Does anyone else remember the bowman encapsulated that sold then got 'microwaved' by his son.

I can't even begin to think about how many cards me and my brother destroyed during petty disputes.

I can see why you would still want the card being that you have the plates, but seriously....eff this guy! I wouldn't reward that kind of behavior by going back to him and begging for him to still sell it to you. If you do, you're teaching this guy that it's ok to pull this kind of crap. Let him keep his creased little card and he can go without the $16.

Also, this made me think about something else. Over the last 5-10 years the 1/1 market has grown so much. But despite the fact that there are so many 1/1's out there, they are each still one-of-a-kind. If something happens to one of these (see the picture above), THAT'S IT!!!!.....no more of that particular card to be found. For 1/1 collectors, it would be pretty cool if there was a database where we could track these cards. If a database existed, it could now indicate for all future Rafael Ynoa collectors that the 2011 Bowman Red Ynoa 1/1 is in poor condition. To go one step further, it could even have the above pics added to it along with the last known winning price. Beckett does not list 1/1's because pricing is too "scare" to report, but I can go on eBay and locate hundreds of 1/1's right this second and I can tell you in a few days what they were last sold for. Obviously it would be difficult to put together a complete and comprehensive database of these cards, but as a Warren Spahn 1/1 collector, I would love to know if there is a record of certain Spahn cards/plates that have been damaged in some way, or if certain Spahn 1/1's have changed hands and at what price.
