I lost a Brandon Webb card for about a year...turns out it had just fallen behind a filing cabinet or something, found it when I moved out of my parents. A nice surprise, it was /25 from his rookie year.

Can't recall specific cards other than odds n ends. But within the last 6 months both versions I had of Will Clark Beer Mugs (yes I collect that oddball stuff) , have disappeared. Either they made it to the trash on accident (maybe not if it was the wife), they were stolen (which would have been off based on what else they could have taken) , or one of the kids/wife knocked into them and broke them and won't admit it. They are only $15-20 items but the fact they aren't easy to track down (esp the different versions), and I just can't figure out why they disappeared

I'm late to this thread, but I've been trying to figure out the whereabouts of one card for 12 years.

In December 2001, I was a senior in high school and my childhood collecting days were winding down. I read about this new "Topps Tribute" product, and was totally fascinated by the idea of being guaranteed a relic of a historically-significant ballplayer. I asked my parents for one pack as a Christmas gift; Tribute was flying off the shelves everywhere, but Mom and Dad managed to score a pack (definitely above MSRP).

I pulled a Yastrzemski bat relic! The cards were gorgeous and it was so cool to have a piece of a legend's actual lumber. I put the card in a case, and proudly displayed it on my bedroom dresser next to my UD Griffey RC, Topps Thomas RC, and '93 Triple Play Nolan Ryan Nicknames.

The following summer, a family friend came to stay with us for a week. He was a huge Red Sox fan and fellow card collector. He'd regularly and happily make trades that I thought were in my favor, just to acquire more Sox (my Spike Owen, Mike Greenwell, and Trot Nixon in return for his sweet Ripken? Yes please!). Needless to say, he was impressed with my Yaz.

At some point later that summer, I noticed that Carl was missing. I checked all my card boxes, the whole time knowing that I never would have put #8 in a box - I would have at least given him the dignity of an album sleeve, into which a thick card like this never would have fit comfortably. I re-checked all its likely and unlikely hiding places, and it didn't turn up.

I left for college in the fall of '02, and moved away from collecting for a few years. Although I was no longer buying packs, there was still the occasional school break when I would find myself sitting down to meander through my collection. Every now and then, I would move purposefully through boxes and albums, looking for Yaz. Even now, at 30 years old, when I visit my folks, I still look through my cards, and the thought of that shiny Yastrzemski - my first relic, from a pack that my parents made so much effort to find - pops into my head..

Dale, I still think you took it.
