Can't put the damage in words. Unbelievable. Even towns in west Tennessee with little rainfall are now flooding over due to levees crashing and water being released from dams.

Not sure if this will work so I will only post one video. Here's how my neighborhood looked after the initial blow:

So much damage folks.

1 billion in damage in the city of Nashville alone. Our county has an early estimate of 20 million in damage. Of our 630 miles of road some 500 miles has damage. All schools lost at least a week. The Elementary school which is around 3 miles from here is closed for the year.
Looks can be deceiving. On the surface things look normal now with the exception of the washed out road here or there and the knocked down fence. A lot of homes are unoccupied and many families do not have a place to call home.

My family was fortunate. We received little damage to the house. Still this is a big blur. Up early and out late. It is hard to believe that in a few hours it will be a week.

Thank you for those who have checked in. The worst possibility is for the country to go without noticing what this state is going through.

It's good that you're all right.

I don't think there has been enough coverage of it in the national news. I don't watch tv much, but I check CNN.com a few times a day and whatnot. It's possible that I just happened to be on when something wasn't being shown, but if it's possible that that happened, that just proves to me there wasn't enough coverage.

Fortunately my family made it back home safe. Fortunately our home received minor damages and we could still live in it. Fortunately our only real "loss" was a golf cart that was literally under the water. We did have insurance and it has been fixed.

Unfortunately there are still a lot of good people without a home. In a county not far from here they are yet to begin issuing permits to even allow people to rebuild their homes. They will begin next week and only issue 10 permits per day. When you consider that 450 homes were washed out this becomes a problem.

In the interest of honesty I am still having a very hard time wrapping my mind around what happened. More than one place that I have called home in my life received extensive damage. In fact, every place that I have ever called home received significant damage in the storm. The Opryland Hotel in Nashville has been a family tradition since my birth. It will be a wonder if they get it open in time for Christmas. The Carousel in Nashville I have taken my daughter to since her birth is gone. These things are minor in the grand scheme of things but it still hurts and it will take time to fully put things in perspective.

Thanks to those of you who offered your concern and support. Please keep the people of this state in your thoughts and prayers.
