I don't collect a lot of basketball, so if someone will please be kind enough to explain this sale.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's simply a dual plain jersey card of Patrick Ewing and Walt Frazier numbered out of 25. It's not either jersey number, and at 25 copies, it's not especially rare, so why did it end at $86?

I know Ewing has very few certified Auto's and they go for big bucks.

Now that I'm thinking of it - I can't think of one set in the past 5 years (since I have gotten back into the hobby) that have had any Ewing Gu'd jsy's either. Frazier may also be semi-rare in terms of his inclusion in gu'd sets. If that's the case, that would explain the high selling price.

I guess plain old GU'D cards can still be worth nice cash when they aren;t from players that are included in 20 sets a year with tens of thousands of gu'd cards available.

Logical points.

The only reason I found this card was that I have a patch version of this same card, #/10 with two two-color swatches that I expected to be a $30 card...now it looks like it's a whole lot more than $30.

From time to time vintage Knicks collectors pay big for "rare" cards... I personally don't think it's that rare, but someone wanted it, and bad...

Congrats on pulling the patch then....should be a nice sale then if that's what you choose to do with it.

And yeah - the rarity thing was the only thing I could think of. Must be a few Ewing or Knicks collector's with deep pockets.
