Well that won't be answered until we see what Panini has in store for the high-end collector/market.

Obviously you;d want the Exquisite at this point over what amounts to low/mid end Panini products we've seen....but like I said, Panini can overtake it with a great on-card auto high end release.....since Exquisite didn;t have all the top rookies sign, had them in College uni's and the whole multiple photo thing

If Panini comes out with a Basketball "national treasures" type product with on-card autos and patch auto rookies numbered to 99, those will be the ones to get.

I've been wondering about this also. I haven't collected basketball in a while, but was looking to get a few guys this year.

I don't know nearly as much about the basketball market, but if it behaves anything like baseball, the panini would have to be seriously low numbered and have a patch/auto to pass the exquisites. If they are just autoed like the exquisites and numbered to 250 I don't think they will pass them even with the two pictures of each guy.

Personally, I don't mind the college pictures. But some of that might be the fact that's the reason I want a couple of guys.

For the price point, I would take Panini. To me this years Exquisite looks rushed, and there is a lot of confusion over the buyback cards.....I think a Panini high end product like national treasures will tell the tale. They have Kobe now, so things could get interesting. They also have Blake Griffen and if he is as promised his stuff will be sought after.....

I think it's fairly obvious that the panini exclusive RCs will be better since they will be able to have autos. I'm not totally sure on the other guys. Of course depending on what panini does. They "could" obviously make something great, but they could also bust. I guess it's a waiting game.

I've been collecting Panini Prestige Jeff Teague cards, and I have 0 Exquisites.
Teagues Exquisites autos, #'d 225, are going for half of what they once were (or atleast one has). Even though they are now ending at the lowest they ever have, I bought a Prestige Teague auto #'d /25 for less than what the Exquisites are currently ending at.
Pro uniform + lower #ing + cheaper price = win in my eyes
I suppose one could argue the brand recognition Exquisite has, but I don't look at this year's Exquisite rookie autos as I do other years' Exquisite rookie autos. I mean, it's not just the missing patch, but the overall look of the card that doesn't make it worth it to me to spend so much more money on them.

As far as National Treasures goes, I'm not 100% sure, but I thought I heard that Panini wasn't going to make National Treasures in basketball this year. I hope I'm wrong though.

There are probably more with the college uni even in panini. Most of them are college unis.

Yeah, but I'm just saying this year's exquisite rookies don't strike me as 'high-end' cards like other years' do. (Of course, Prestige is by no means a 'high-end' product itself.) And nothing looks better on a person than a Hawks jersey. ;)
And I don't want to do away with cards with players pictured in their college uniforms in general because I know some people collect those. I'm just saying what I prefer, and on Exquisite I prefer the Hawks uniform. Of course, I understand that they were forced to use the college uniforms because they didn't have enough time to make nba uniformed cards for the rookies because of their license expiring, but still, the cards as a whole should look better.

It would be neat to try to get the exquisite rookies signed by the players.
