Do you guys know an approximate average of their value? I am thinking if I should bid for Cantu one
I know how to use completed listings but there aren't too many recently.

Does the diamond actually hold any value? Or is the value based on just being a cool 1/1?

Thanks

From what ive heard, the diamonds in these cards were real cheap.

Ive seen some of the lesser known players sell between $100-$150 of the past few years. But havent seen any recent sales.

I can't speak about the actual value of the diamond, but these sell very well, even for cheap players. I paid nearly $200 for my Daniel Hudson. Granted he has a couple hard core collectors, but still, that's a ridiculous amount for him, and that was after Hudson was already injured.

I dunno if they're similar to the 24k gold ones from 2012, but those go for $50-$100 for commons.

A seller has the diamond Marlins team card and he wants $299. I told him no way, $150 max. He said no

The diamonds seem to sell way higher than the golds.

Bummer, wish I would have seen that. First time it sold at time of release it went a little over $200

They are very cool in person.
Is it a top of the line diamond? No. But is it unique enough to justify say $150 of your player? Yes IMO.
Heres a close up of the diamond in the Cuddy I have.

Thanks for the close up. How thick they are? I display most of my Cantu collection in a binder but I have a few patches in one touches.

These are very thick cards. I have the Billingsley and have to store it in one of those super thick screw downs.

I am waiting to see how he does this year before I put a new value on it. I have seen common players listed for as much as $300 and stars up to $600.

Good luck.

I had to go look it up, but I paid a fairly incredible $350 for Grady Sizemore via BIN back on release. I remember at the time thinking I should wait or try to negotiate, but I really, really wanted it and was paranoid someone else would swoop in on it.

The diamonds, I'm sure, are artifical, industrial things, not worth anything as jewelry or whatever. Even real diamonds are tough to re-sell.

Just speaking to the value of the diamond itself, it is probably not worth much at all to be honest. Most value is just in the fact that it is a 1/1 and the insert of the diamond is a pretty cool touch but shouldn't materially move the needle when it comes to the sale price IMHO.

Yep, it is the common opinion that they were very cheap diamonds. Still, they sell way higher than others Topps 1/1s. Including common players. Either buyers think the diamonds are good or they they like the design very much.

NICE buy! That card ended up where it belonged, I'm really glad you got it.

Nope, haven't ever seen the Gomes.
