Cool thread.. I sold a card to Jay Buhner's dad once many years ago. He was very nice and told me to let him know if I ever got anything else in. He was one of my top 5 players growing up, so I was thrilled!

I have sold to Olbermann, a Ron Guidry auto /5 to a R.M. Guidry out of Louisania, some Danny Duffy cards to a Deanna Duffy. There have been others, but these are some that stick out.

Miles Austin bought all of his cards from me when he was first drafted, sold for $.99 cents each.

I'm sure he planned to suck early on just so he could buy into himself cheap.

Smart bastard...

Several NHL players fathers & uncles. Uniformly nice, although they were all years ago. None of the actual players, but a couple of the dads said they were getting them (cards of their sons) on behalf of their sons.

That is one hell of a list. I especially like that you put Tebow next to Dukes. And I'm curious to know what Neil Young wanted. Baseball card or other?

Just had to share 3 that I just had all in the same day...

1. Vance Worley's Mom

From Wikipedia:

Vance Richard Worley (born September 25, 1987, in Sacramento, California), nicknamed "The Vanimal",[1][2] is an American professional baseball pitcher with the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball.
....
Worley's mother, Shirley, is Chinese. She was born in Hong Kong and moved to the United States as a child.

Mrs. Shirley just cleaned me out of 2012 Topps Heritage cards of her son. Funny thing to me is, she bought them with an offer of $.50 per instead of just hitting the buy-it-now... made me laugh a lot.

2. Someone named Robert Espinosa bought all the Danny Espinosa cards I had... couldn't find any info on family...

3. Danny Duffy's Mom

From some article I found:

Duffy grew up in Lompoc, Calif., the only child of Dan and Deanna Duffy. His dad is a background investigator for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department. Both parents were ballplayers, and it was his mom who often threw batting practice for him right up through high school.

"She's got a really good arm. She used to play in all the men's leagues and she was the only lady there," he said. "She's real petite and real small, but she can get it done so it was fun."

His mother, he said, was a catcher for the first softball team at her high school.

"She wasn't on the Rockford Peaches or anything," he said, laughing.

Brett Gardner's family (Mom I think) was buying a bunch of his cards from me back in 2005/06. I've sold to more than a few other people who appear to be related to the player featured on the card (same last name, etc.), but never really bothered to check further. Olbermann has been buying cards from me lately which I find great, since I am a big fan of his (yet have tried to treat him like any other customer). The oddest "famous" buyer for me would be when Justin Priddy (formerly of *** and now runs his own autograph authentication company ACE) purchased a Sean Drinkwater autographed card from me. I thought it was a bit odd, since they both worked at *** at one point, and am pretty sure they were there at the same time. I sent him a message about it via eBay but didn't get a response. Oh well.
