For whatever reason, they cant give FanFest tickets away. Initial news reports saying thin crowds. Havent heard of the reason why but radio advertisements have FanFest tickets at below face value at a couple different ticket re-sellers. I've had three different people ask me if I wanted their FanFest tickets. They all said they got them from their work. I'm not able to go so I didnt take them.

I had a lot of fun last year the couple days that I went, but if you aren't going to wait in line for autographs you can go through most of the stuff there in 1 full day. It was the same situation here last year with people basically giving away the tickets. I got a few autographs last year, Ozzie Smith, Paul Molitor, Rollie Fingers, Juan Marichal, and Orlando Cepeda. The lines really died down by the end of the day to the point where you can just walk up to most attractions and not have to wait in line.

Fanfest should be free, dont understand why MLB feels the need to charge for this event.
Issues........
1) no advertising for the most part. I remember last year hearing minimal about fanfest in radio, tv or newspaper advertisements. Unless you are a diehard MLB fan or a fan of the team, you really didnt hear that much "fanfare" about it. I expected huge crowds last year, the two days I went, crowds and waiting in line was a minimum.
2) again, why would MLB charge for this? This is NOT where MLB needs to make money, my $.02 this is where you need to attract the casual or new fan, charging them to come to a "fanfest" is not the way to do it IMO.
3) not an issue here as much as an observation, fanfest is geared towards kids which is great. Again, how many diehard fans are kids? They tend to be a casual or new fan, so I revert back to why does MLB charge for this?? Make it free so families want to bring their kids to it to enjoy it and learn about baseball.
4) there was a lot of "dead space" as I will call it last year. When you walked into the convention center, it seemed all of the activities were to the left (batting cages, stealing bases, fielding, virtual sports, etc) whereas to the right were the more "visual aspects" of the event, the Hunt auction, the game used displays, the ***** leagues exhibit, etc.
So if you had kids with you, they wanted to be to the left, if you didnt have kids with you, you as an adult fan probably gravitated more to the right. There just wasnt that balance throughout the convention center to make you walk the entire floor from my POV.
5) it would be nice if MLB made more of the All Stars available for fanfest. By available, I mean meet and greets, photo ops, clinics, etc. There were very few All-Stars (if any) last year that participated in fanfest. I know its a PITA to coordinate with these athletes, they have to be willing to do these types of things, however it just seems it would be more "festive" for the fest part if more players were involved. Its nice for us old folks to see the HOFers, however an event geared towards kids, you need more of "today's" players vs "yesterdays".

The only current players that I can think of that attended FanFest last year were Joe Mauer and Kurt Suzuki (Autographs) and Giancarlo Stanton and Andrew McCutchen (Kid's Clinic). That was it. They also had a couple Future's Game players attend (Jose Berrios and Kris Bryant), but I agree they should try a little harder to get some more current guys in and make it free, or much, much cheaper like $5 a ticket.

It's 50 minutes from me and I didn't go.

NFL Super Bowl fan fest was free if I remember correctly and it was massively attended in Indy.

Completely agreed. Very few stars there and I wouldn't have even gone last year if my tickets weren't free. $35 a pop? No way.
