TOTAL MEMBERS FOR 2013 GROUP SO FAR: 11/36 (list below)
Hello FCB members!
Here it is, the official 2013 Birthday Group sign-up thread.
This will be the 8th year I do this and I’m pretty much happy with the 2012 group even if we had a couple of incidents which were resolved but a mostly late packages which is just not really acceptable. The year is not over so check out the 2012 threads if you like.
2013 should (and WILL) be better!!!!
How it works:
We create a group of members who send to each other for their birthdays. The idea is to send (and receive) cards which other members need/want or other relative items for collections and we all share scans and pics.
You will only send a certain amount of packages during the entire year. If you send more, that is up to you. You never send during your B-day month since that’s the month you receive. Who you send to is determined by drawing names out of a hat (once sign-up is closed).
EXAMPLE: this year (2012 Group) each member sent to 3 other members during the year. In return, each member received 3 packages.
TRUE: I will not lie, there have been a few bad apples in the past and those members are no longer welcome. When things went wrong in the past, some members were generous enough to send extra packages. I would like to avoid this. People should be responsible enough to play by the rules. If not, DO NOT SIGN UP!!!!
THIS YEAR:
EACH MEMBER WHO JOINS ENGAGES TO SEND AT LEAST 3 PACKAGES. (this means you will receive 3 packages). I have decided to limit the number to 3. This also means we’re limiting the number of members.
I have decided to limit the number of total members at 36. We’ve never reached 36 members but who knows. If the math doesn't work out, it could be less packages, but not more.
The packages
I am not asking you to send a 1/1 auto or plate or $100 worth of cards... I'm sure only few people could do such a thing anyways.
However, there must be at least 1 decent card worth (at least) $20 in the package you send. If you send more, you’re free to do so but at least 1 nice card is necessary to avoid receiving a bunch of commons, especially if you sent something nice, you expect something nice in return.
Each member will give a list of what they collect or want (which can change during the year of course).
Just stay as close as you can to the need/want list and send what you want. Members in the past have received auto cards, patches, jerseys, refractors, a bit of a mix and it's perfect that way. Just respect the 1 $20 card minimum.
ALL MEMBERS WHO JOIN AGREE to the minimum so that nobody gets ripped! Accept it or don’t sign up.
Second important info:
You must send with DC. Indeed, I will keep track of this. YOU MUST SEND before the 20th of each MONTH of the “Victim’s” birthday. NO EXCEPTIONS FOR LATE PACKAGES. (I have been lenient in the past but PLEASE RESPECT THIS RULE)
YOU WILL BE KICKED OUT OF THE GROUP IF YOU DO NOT RESPECT THIS DEADLINE. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This brings me to the receiver’s end: YOU MUST POST on the birthday thread what you receive.
You all appreciate when someone says “THANK YOU” so you are asked to do the same. NO EXCEPTIONS. Keep in mind "thank you" is not optional. It only takes 5 minutes to say thank you. (even less).
How to sign up:
I need you to send me your name and address as well as a need/want list. (PM only)
I also need your birth date and username. If any info is missing, I will disregard your request.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND I DO NOT SHARE YOUR INFO except to people who send to you.
You have until Sunday the 2nd of December (midnight) to sign up. After that, I need time to organize things and get the spread sheet ready to send out for the January birthdays and of course send out names of whom you must send to.
You must be a regular member on FCB to sign up (at least 1 year presence).
I will keep an updated list just below so you know who has signed up.
During this time you will also see the current 2012 B-Day threads (November and December). Please feel free to check them out.
If you have any questions or suggestions, I'm all ears and eyes.
I hope to have you in the group.
1 last and important thing: if you sign up, it's because you've accepted to actively take part in the group. Don't ruin things by cheating. This is meant to be fun and make people feel nice for their b-days. Don't expect high end cards either. It RARELY happens. There are generous members out there but if you take them for granted, they disappear faster than it takes me to type these few words.
IF YOU DO NOT RESPECT THE RULES, it will not go unnoticed.
There will also be a screening process. Not everyone will be allowed to join based on your FCB presence, your past history with the group (if you had one) and your reputation (bad trades if any for example).
