thats the 3rd time thats made this thread. that was some game to watch
lol... maybe I should have read the rest, huh? Yeah, I went from super excited to just realizing it was par for the course. Luckily, I was busy during the first half so I missed the Meacham play. This weekend has been mostly for taking care of business. Had a good time on Friday evening, but did a couple oil changes and helped install a buddy's exhaust on Saturday. Today, I spent a few hours giving my car a real good cleaning and then giving my place a cleaning it so desperately needed. You ever have one of those weekends where you're doing so much miscellaneous work that it doesn't feel like you've had a break? That was this weekend for me.
I really missed seeing your Portis rainbow. I'm not gonna lie.
Thats why im here so you can look at my beautiful sig :D
The only thing good about your sig is the guy who made it 8-)

Oh yeah. Block leave is coming up and I can't wait. After that, it's all ramping up for the next deployment.

The unit is scheduled to deploy in July, but I'll be ETS'ed.

I don't want to sound dumb - but will you be able to get online? Wasn't sure if your deployment would be somewhere you can.

It's actually a valid question. I was able to get internet access during my last deployment. It was slooooooow, but it worked and it was easily better than nothing. I actually started my Portis collection while deployed by having them delivered to my parents' house. Imagine my excitement to open the bubble envelopes for 9 months worth of ebay wins when I got home. Where my unit is deploying they should be able to get internet as well. However, ETS stands for 'Expiration, Term of Service,' meaning that I'll be out of the Army by then.

The Army was a means to an end for me to begin with. I went to college for a couple years after high school, but I ran out of motivation and (more importantly) money. I met my recruiter by accident at the time, and the military presented itself as a great opportunity. It would give me money for school, and I would have a job. I didn't want to be 'that guy' who ends up in his parents' basement for 10 years after taking a 'break' from school. I picked a job that I though that I would enjoy and also give me some marketable skills.

There was recently a new GI Bill approved by congress which will pay 100% tuition plus books plus housing (which is HUGE.) I think I'll be going back to school when I get out, now that I can make it work money-wise. With my two years' original credits and all the credits I've accrued in the military through various means, I should be able to complete a degree relatively quickly. I'm also looking at a job with AAI Corporation, who manufactures the UAVs that I currently work with. One of the guys in my unit relatively recently left the military and went to work with them, and he's having a great time. I've gotta talk to him a little more to find out more details, but that may be another means to an end. The civilians who work there make HUGE cash (think approaching the 100k range) while deployed, and I could easily see myself saving up some serious cash there.

The Army is not a bad life by any means, but I would personally like a less restrictive job. There's just a little too much structure there for my personal tastes.

That was a very professional answer sir. I was proud of what I had done, but after 8 years (granted I was Infantry) I was tired of all the *********.

lol... I'd say that structure and bureaucracy are good 'PC' synonyms for the BS. There can be a lot of that as well. One of the reasons that I enjoyed deployment so much was that it was just do your job and go home. They cut out much of the BS that makes people resent garrison.
