Ya those Steeler/Ravens threads are always enjoyable to peep.

I havent had much of anything lately. Nothing Portis I want, Skins are poop so I never buy much of the newer guys, and NT has become so overpriced I cannot add to that PC without feeling like I overpaid a bit.

Oh well, it will pick up sooner or later, I hope.

Is your 1 incoming a big one or just a lil guy?

I have a question: Why do people bid on items when there is still more than a minute left, like bidding on something that still has 2 days left....what's the point, why let other buyers know that there's someone else interested in it? Just throw your max bid in during the last minute.

I have two reasons

One, I place low bids so I can track stuff. I don't Watch items anymore. 80% of the time I forget to check my watch list, an item ends and I miss it. At least placing low bids puts everything on my Items I'm Bidding On list and sorts everything chronologically

Two, I don't use sniping programs. I signed up for a paid service to snipe a 1980 TCMA Ryne Sandberg PSA 8 (an extremely rare card) for me, since I was going to be out of town when it ended. The damn snipe failed to go off, I lost the card, and I haven't seen it in 6 years since.

I now manually snipe, or sometimes I'll place my max bid early and hope for the best. I'm not concerned about getting shilled. I think shill bidding one of the most overrated "problems" in the hobby. Just like the stupid misconception that every high end raw chrome card that isn't in a BGS slab is trimmed. The rumor starts, it spreads, it spreads like wildfire, now any card that sells for more than someone thinks it should sell for is a shill job. BS

And if you wanna play the psychological warfare perspective, Wheeler is right on the money. If people see a $250 card sitting at $174 with 41 bids, the conspiracy theorists will stay away. It's almost reverse shill bidding

This is how I roll, almost dead on. I never have more than five things in my watch list, usually stuff I don't even want, I just wanna see what it goes for (like the Jim Thorpe cut). I manually snipe, no fancy pants programs. Completely agree with you about shilling too.

There's also one other problem I've seen. On an extremely hot card where no one want to show their hand by doing anything besides sniping with 5 seconds left, sellers will often get spooked and pull the auction. I've done it before. If I have a $300 card that's sitting at $51 with six hours left, I'll get cold feet and yank the card off Ebay.

morning all!

Ebay sellers are being extremely slow lately. I'm going on about 3 weeks on a couple of cards now.

Oh and the mail comes with a postage due. Remember that auction with all the plates that got ended early because Slette wanted the Greenway? Well I got the Tapp and the seller sent it with no top loader falling out of a penny sleeve with 0.78 postage due. Weak!

Seahawks, thanks for answering my q about the Red Status Elites. VY's jersey # is 10, so I guess that's the print run? Is there also a Black Status 1/1?

That stinks - the Greenway came in a penny sleeve, wrapped in what appears to be some sort of cereal box. How does somebody get that many plates at once, and have no top loaders to put them in?

Glad you could get the Tapp, though.

Can someone explain this postage due crap? You actually have to pay to get your mail? Every time I don't use adequate postage, it ends up back in my PO box

I never understood how they come up with which to put through and charge the recipient and which to send back to the sender, but yeah, you have to pay for your mail. They'll leave an envelop with the amount due on it, and you're supposed to put that amount in and leave it for your mail carrier or drop it off at the post office.

Just found a Sharpton Topps Black /55 on SportsLots for $3.50. Cheapest on ebay so far was 9.99. Pretty happy with that, not to mention the .70 budget shipping.

Nice.

I've done three purchases on Sportslots before. Two were successful, the other was not. The one that was not was of course for a rare Nore that I was searching for for years (Score Select Hot Rookies Black /6).
