just looked up the subgrades on my blue ref of matz edges-10,corners 9.5,surface 9 and centering 7.5 :( cmon that card wasnt that bad or was it?

Don't feel bad one of my cards has sub grade for corners of 7.5 which is straight bull crap. Also another card got 9 centering when all the cards from elite have 9.5 or 10 centering. Somebody must have been not happy the day they graded our cards lol

My Pedroia got a 9 with subs of 10/9/9.5/9. What would it take to make this card a 9.5 in s sub bump? Do I need one of those 9's to be a 9.5 to get an overall grade of 9.5 and what is the likelihood of getting that sub bump? Thanks guys and thanks Mason I appreciate your time you put in on this and plan on doing some more cards hopefully next month.

Yes that is what you would need for a sub bump. I may be cracking all of my and resubmitting because mine are really crappy. I would crack and send the card back in raw that is the best way to do it.

I think I got a pissy grader. :P

BGS Card Number 6407499
Set Name: 2008 Bowman Chrome Prospects Blue Refractors
Player Name: David Price AU
Date Graded: Thursday, March 25, 2010
Centering Corners Edges Surfaces
9.5 8 9.5 9
Final Grade: 8.5

.5 away from a 9. Grrrr. Might resub hoping for a 9? Idk.

8 Corners? Really? Not sure if I agree with that.

When you get the card back look at the back.....rotate your wrist and let the corners (more so the BACK of the card....you aren't looking at the back of the cards 'TIP' you are looking at the white back to see if there is a crase that will impact the corner grade) catch the light. It may look small however it can impact the grade substanially.

The centering is like 90% front grade and 10% back grade.
The corners is more like 50% and 50% back......in other words if you aren't looking at the back of the card you are playing russian roulette with your bank account.

Also, if a card is an xfractor and it has even the faintless line......8.5 is the grade if the surface is immaculate.

In other words don't waste your time.

I've seen a few scans of Chromes with X lines that have 9 surface grades.

Yea I figured that and being new to grading, I had a couple more experienced friends take a look at it before I sent it in. I was told that the other 3 subs would make up for it but I guess not. It's all good though...from what I've seen the value of a 9 as opposed to raw isn't that substantial. Regardless of the outcome, thanks a lot for the sub! I will definitely be sending some more stuff in April.

Wow, I got killed on everything I sent in. The Platinum Medallion and Thunder Rave I expected to receive low grades due to their condition but wow, the Flair cards were not in bad shape when I sent them.

Ok here we go:

Platinum Medallion: Edges were a 7.5. That sucks.
Thunder Rave: Corners were a 7.5. Again, damn.
1998 Showcase Legacy Row 1: Corners were 8.5. Ok, not too bad.
1999 Showcase Legacy Row 1: Corners were an 8. Eh, I know they weren't that bad.
1998 Showcase Row 0: Corners were also an 8. Damn.

Well, maybe I can do better in the future. If I knew they would be that bad I would have just authenticated them.

I think I'm going to either resubmit the Price hoping for a 9 or take it to the BGS booth at the Houston tristar this summer and hope they bump corners to 8.5 so I'll get a 9. Isn't there a significant value difference between an 8.5 and a 9?
