Sup fellas? Thirsty Thursday! Love it!

If I have the scratch I am thinking about making a trip to the Nationals to get ND's Heismann winners, Lattner, Tim Brown and Hornung all on a FS ND helmet. Doubt it will happen though.

There are a few autographs I would love to have from the National. Unfortunately the money is not available to get them.

Yeah I wouldn't mind a personalized Montana auto mini but no way I can afford his ridiculous prices.

There are a couple autos I wouldn't mind getting at the National, but I just very recently told myself I was cutting back on collecting a bit to save some cash. Oh well, there will always be a next time.

Got this in the mail today. The 2009 Heroes set is ok, but these auto cards leave something to be desired. They really kind of look like TTM cards. Whereas Donruss likes to design a jersey card and make a base card out of it, here UD took a base card and just got it signed. I really like the white auto area from last year's set quite a bit better. Also, Portis has 4(!) different base cards in the set and they each have at least three auto variations. Seriously, is that necessary? Sure my auto is numbered to 10, but there are (4x1+4x10+4x15) 103 other autos in the set. I suppose it's a ploy to get more player collectors to spend their money, but I think I'm done with the set.

I would love to get a Barry Sanders autograph from the Nationals. I've always been a big fan of Barry and have always wanted to have an autograph of his in my collection.

I wonder how much of their signing fee the players keep. I'd imagine it's at least 50% or maybe a little more. Those guys charging $200 for a single auto probably still sign a TON of stuff at a show like the Nationals and walk away with a BIG, FAT check at the end of the day.

One thing that gets me is the sometimes large price differences for different items. The difference in effort between signing your name on a sports card and on a football or jersey is negligible, but the price difference is crazy.

I pissed this chick off at work today pretty good. She was telling the story of somebody who deployed to Iraq, got drunk one day and stole a HMMV. Apparently, he merged his hummer into a convoy and left the base, where he proceeded to crash the vehicle and died. As she told the story, I chuckled at the guy's stupidity. She told me it wasn't funny. I told her that I thought it was hilarious. Even stupider than some drunk guy who hits a tree in the states. I mean, this guy was drinking in Iraq (not allowed,) STOLE a HMMV (obviously not allowed,) left the base by himself (also a no-no) and then destroyed the stolen property and terminated his life.

Apparently she knew the guy and I'm an inconsiderate *******. Whatever, I still think the story is pretty funny.
