February Mears auction......

Anyone else win anything in last nights auction?

I picked up two BVG/JSA slabs of George Weiss and Larry Macphail for my HOFer collection for what I think are very good prices.

They had some gorgeous game used bats/uniforms- some which sold and some which did not and many very nice autos.

...they have so many "hoard" lots of vintage I'd love to go "all-in" on one.....this is in addition to the graded singles, full sets, autos, uniforms, baseballs and odd-ball singles.

I would definitely be interested in going together with someone one or two of these lots! I can not afford all of them, but may be able to swing part of one or two with someone else!

There were 2 auctions on Mears that I wanted. Both were minor league signed Milwaukee Brewers balls. One from 1937 and the other from 1951. Opening was at $100, but the bids finished at $421 each. I bought my other 30's- 50's balls around $100 give or take. I couldn't put down $500 each for them. I thought we were in a recession.

I scanned through the Huggins and Scott at lunch. I dare say I had a little more drool than usual. Some of the cuts and HOF postcards were phenomenal. And some of the lots of newer game used and autos would be very interesting to try to break and resell.

I bought a beautiful early Gomes bat from Historic, as well as a lineup card. Could anyone remove the watemark from the pictures for me? I asked Historic for the unadulterated photographs, but they're not allowed to distribute them.

It's funny, I didn't look at MEARS this past auction, as their autographed card listings have been a bit lacking in the past. Wish I had now. D'oh!
