I have 2 girls, 2 and 5 and I hope they actually try and be good at something not try and get attention for being bad epically.

so only would have been worth it if she did good? Yup that's a great way to look at it. Only attempt things kids if you are gonna be good.

This made absolutely no sense - lets say my son completely sucks at hockey, but want's to walk on at college. Then gets discouraged when he is laughed off the ice. American Idol tryouts are filled with people who sound great in their car/shower and then get on the show only to be the butt of everyone's jokes. I'm not saying you shouldn't try out if you are great at a D3 school and under people's radar, but to suggest that it is stupid to tell people not to attempt things they can't do. How about you prove me wrong by parachuting out of an airplane by yourself. Please make sure you do it over a non-populated area first.

example - Cecil Shorts III. I didn't realize he went to a D3 school.

UMM FTR I parachute twice a year up in Gananoque Canada. I can scan my jumping certificate if you like. Your first jump only allows you to jump from 3000 feet but you gradually move up. Even have a few of the jumps on DVD and VHS

So with that we can agree to disagree with your opinion for you are breaking it down and are trying to read my mind. I was using the assumption she in fact did get injured and knew how to kick. Your suggestion though was a complete Fail

Taken from a quote from her:

"While she is new to the gridiron, Silberman had said she hoped her years of studying sports video games would give her an advantage."

If a man had said that at a tryout, they would have been laughed off. Also, just to state, I have zero problems with any woman trying out for anything a man can do. I just would have liked to see someone tryout who had a legitimate shot at this - like Briana Scurry for example. I think there are some sports where women can be just as competitive as men (I would like to have seen Serena Williams take on some of the men players). I also think there are some women who could be competitive in men's baseball as well. I just think this situation was more of a publicity stunt and a disservice to women in sports.

What ever happened to that Japanese woman that was pitching in the AFL or whatever league that was?
