Fernando Rodney Signs with Angels

And I couldn't be happier that he's no longer the Tigers' problem. Guy is the most overrated closer in baseball because of his 37/38 saves. I bet if they kept track of the number of games a closer put the potential go-ahead run on base, he would have 25 of those in his 38 save attempts.

The Tigers get a Supplemental Draft Pick in the 2010 draft out of this.

can't wait for vlad to sign somewhere else (hoping texas), then i won't have to chear for the angels anymore.

EDIT: they are going to suck, i say 3rd in the division finish is about right.

It got to the point this year where I was more surprised if he didn't put the go ahead run on base than if he did. I feel like that's not what you want from your closer.

Even if Vlad does end up in Texas, they are still going to manage to suck worse than your spelling. Rodney was NOT signed to step in as the primary closer, he will be used in conjunction with Brian Fuentes to finish the 9th just as Kevin Jepsen did towards the end of last season with Fuentes. Neither are great closers, so it just appears the Angels thinking in this is to go with the hot hand or play it based on matchups.

Even with Figgins, Lackey, and Vlad leaving town...the Angels will still take first in the West pretty easily. That lineup in Seattle isn't scaring anybody, Texas is nothing special, and Oakland is still bottom of the barrel here for 2010.
