When I started collecting basketball Shaq was in his first year.

This was during a time when pack certified cards were not the staple that they are now.
Currently he lacks certified autos of him in a Magic uniform.
Scoreboard had an exclusive deal with him.
They had him sign rookie cards of him during that time.
He signed alot of them but even today they are pretty hard to find.
I snagged one at a card show during the summer. The seller wanted 65 but since I pointed out a small ding on the botom of the corner I got it for 40$

This was one of my favorite cards that came out in the
92-93 season. It came with a scoreboard COA and it is hand numbered
On the back. I finally got it back from BGS.

Topps Gold 92-93 Shaquille O'Neal RC Auto

Classic had a deal with Shaq, I believe Scoreboard is a different company. I guess it helps that you had it authenticated but in general, SB stuff is pretty touchy. I guess some of their old cards, COAs or embossers made it into some forgers' hands a long time ago.

Yea that's what I heard. But this pretty dead in Abd JSA confirmed it as well. I've seen some poor Shaq autos but this is one of the legit ones.

Your right about their coa's. Someone made lots of loot of them

Yeah, not many at all. I had 5 in Lakers uniform from a private signing, but gave 2 away as contest prizes. The Scoreboard autos had him in LSU uniform for the most part.

If you ever hear of another Shaq private signing please let me know.

Here is the back of the card as well as COA that came with it. Coa's ain't worth the paper they are printed on but i know this auto is legit not just because JSA passed it either.

I remember on QVC they were selling signed rookie cards like this in those holders that had engraved nameplates.
Just like these holders below

I am a huge Shaq Collector since 1996 when I was stationed in Lousiana and I was wondering if you have any dup's you might want to sale. Thanks.

Ibought a box of 1996 Scoreboard All-Sport back when it forst came out. Anyone remember that stuff? Anyways, I pulled a prize card that you scratched off to see what you won. It was a Shaquille O'neal autographed jersey!! I was a big Shaq fan, and moreso that he had just signed with LA. I knew it wouldn't be a Laker item, but I was still pretty excited. Well, after a few weeks, Scoreboard called and said that there is a delay (sound familiar 2013?) with Shaq autographs. He gave me a list of alternatives including Frank Thomas, Cal Ripken in baseball, Keyshawn Johnson and a couple other football, or Damon Staudimire and a few other basketball choices. I told him I'd get back to him while I asked friends and family what to do. EVERYONE said "Wait for the Shaq" because his autograph was so rare. THey compared his auto to Bill Russell, and one Shop owner told me that the Shaq auto may be the most rare auto in the product (Babe Ruth, Joe Dimaggio, Honus Wagner were all possibilities::facepalm::)

Well I waited, and finally 3 months later, received the Shaq auto:
Mesh Orlando Practice Jersey, NEW WITH TAGS! Oh, and it has the Scoreboard COA, so I got that going for me!
Hindsight... I had wished I got the THomas, even though now I am glad I have a Shaq auto. It will look better framed someday.
