The last card came in today, and I'm not sad to see it done. It's extremely redundant; perhaps it is Upper Deck's answer to Moments & Milestones, but it is really uninteresting, the gold parallel is hardly any different than the base and it lacks the cachet and fun of being numbered. At least it wasn't as hard to find all the cards as I thought it would be (I got 14 or so of the 20 from Beckett, and then found one or two each of the golds from other places), and having 20/20 from a set sure don't hurt the percentage (98% of 2008, 97% overall).

Congrats...I thought you meant the entire set and didn't realize you were the person who collected Gomes.

I am still one gold away from completing my Andruw Jones set. He too only has 20 cards total. I agree with everything the OP said. Probably one of most boring sets I have seen. It is painful to collect these, but the stubborn player collector that I am forces me to buy this garbage.

Lars: I did wonder about that as I posted it---but hell, it was past midnight ;)

ThoseBackPages: Just looked it up on Beckett, and you ain't kidding! It was easy for me to suck up the cost on the last 6 ($1 plus too much for shipping), as I was able to get the first 14 from only 3 or so sellers.

Typed in "kissing" at first, instead of "kidding": gotta go to bed...

AndruwHRJones: Ain't that the truth (stubborn player collector). Have you ever read what it says on the fronts of the cards? I just did now, and come on: "Rays get offensive support from a number of different spots"? It, and many others, are excruciatingly vague and arbitrary. It's bad enough that they're not player specific, but they're barely even game specific!

r2d2: The other being Co-Signers? I'm lucky there, though, because Gomes was only paired with the one player.

Jastermereel: Does Rivera have 10 base as well?

Bummer to have that as well as Yankee Stadium Legacy (is he also in M&M?)---how's that one going?

And if you haven't checked already, I found all but two of mine from beckett and sportlots (only one from eBay, and the last one from The Bench).

Man...try putting the complete set together. Its a nightmare and a half. You can luckily pick up boxes of this stuff for around $30 but the inserts are almost worthless and the autos suck big time. The only reason to buy it at all for me was the set. After spending in the neighborhood of about $400 I have about just shy of 2,000 different cards for the set(not even halfway done) and I have only talked to one other person who was even doing the set and he was like 600 cards shy.I could find nobody to trade with so I just took the extras I had and threw them to a guy I trade with for other things.Sadly the cards are a little higher than I would like to pay.Even at sportlots prices it would cost me a fortune to put together.I think that's the last time I try to do a set that is more than 1000 cards. The set could have really been fun and cool to put together but Upper Deck really screwed the concept up a lot.And why the hell don't they have names on the cards? Was that too much to ask?

If anyone has any to sell or get rid of I would be interested.I'd only be looking to pay 10 cents a card though.

One other thing...I did notice a while back on ebay that a seller was selling these things in complete team set lots.So you player collectors may want to look into that. You might be able to buy one(albeit at a high price) and then snag your player and sell or trade the rest to other player collectors.I just wasn't down for doing this for the set because I saw no team sets going for less than $50 or $60.

This set would have been awesome if they combined 40man and documentary, instead of having the same player on 10+ cards. Even if the same players were used, Make it a different picture for each inner set of each team. Like others said, put the players name on it and putting the game # on front would have been nice too.
I opened five 20-box retail cases of this stuff and did not make 1 complete set.
and there were 4800 cards in a case and the complete set was 4860..
I still have cards from Astros , Athletics, braves, mariners, mets, Dbacks, Nats & Royals

Yeah Rivera has ten base also. He's in 2007 & 2008 M&M as well as YSL. I haven't put a ton of effort into either of those two sets. If something shows up that I need I trade for it. I'm pretty far from either of the Black or Blue sets.

I bought mine on eBay, Beckett Marketplace, & Sportslots.

Co-Signers could be one, but I was thinking more (although they are way smaller sets) about the Fleer sets and UD (Glossy gold, Mini Gold, spectrum, etc, those bothersome cards).
