First Foul Ball !!! I gotta brag to somebody...

I took the family to the Reading Phils (AA) game. We got lucky as we got to see Pedro Martinez in a rehab start where he went a solid 7 innings. We also got to see one of the two prospects that the Phillies supposedly did not want to trade to the Blue Jays for Halladay. He is an outfielder that was just called up in his second AA game. The guy is Domonic Brown. His first at bat he hit the farthest HR I ever saw at that stadium. Next he hit a standup double. Then two strikeouts. During the 2nd strikeout he hit a screaming line drive foul ball that I managed to snag on one bounce !!!

This was my first one ever. I am 42 and I go to a lot of games... Anyway we stayed after and got him to sign it for us. The ball then went right to my son who is a collector and vet of many National Shows.

Had to tell some peeps that would appreciate getting a collectable. Thanks for listening...

Great story and congrats on getting the auto too. I caught my first foul ball last year at a Hi A game. Didnt think it would ever happen but it finally did.

Very cool. I've never caught a foul ball, just had a few thrown to me. I did, however, catch my first home run ball last year, that was cool.

About 30 years ago I almost caught a foul ball hit by Brian Downing at Anaheim Stadium. Could actually feel the zzziiiipppp as the ball whizzed by my clutching hands!

Caught my first foul ball back in 2001, someone from the Expos hit it. Who it was, I have no clue. Funny thing was, it hit off this lady, then her kid, and then bounced into my lap. Quite the experience to come away with a game used ball and to be the one with good hands.

I've gotten tons of foul balls at minor league games. I kept the first few, but now I just give them to little kids.

I've been lucky. I have caught four. Almost had another 3, one of which some girl next to us bumped me and I missed it. Crowd booed me for missing it :lol:

My favorite though is that I caught a batting practice home run from Darin Erstad. It was at my first Wrigley Field (Stadium for Jeff Gordon fans) game. Some drunk guy (already before the the game) wasn't paying attention in front of me (we were 2nd row) and I back handed it in front of his face. Had I not, POW... knocked out drunk guy :lol:

I did catch a foul ball last year - it was the first and only catch. It wasn't an ordinary catch, but I did catch it on my bare left hand, and I never dropped my bottle of Miller Lite. Here's what had happened:

I was coming out of the tunnel to my seats which are between first base and the right foul pole (you guessed it right - I came from the bathroom). So I noticed someone hit a ball, so I stopped. My eyes were locked on the foul ball, and still I didn't move. The ball spinned and spinned, so I admit I was kinda drunk and just raised my left arm up in the air. There were two Yankees fans behind me (yes, there were so many Yankees fans at the Oriole Park against the O's - a sad feeling) and they were pushing me, but I stood. I don't think I took my eyes off the ball because I pretty much caught a foul ball by Derek Jeter!

I was shocked at myself. My fiancee, father and friend dropped their mouths to the floor, literally! :lol: Then I heard applause not just from the O's fans, but the Yankees fans (I was wearing orange O's jersey). Anyways, I kept the ball and it's now on the shelf in the living room.

Another subject, I did get foul balls when they were bouncing off seats or people ::facepalm:: but I would immediately give them to the kids. It's a great feeling to see a kid with a beaming smile...

my son and i have alot . one season got one of all batters of home team . best night 5 off walls .once son went after a home run ball only to find a snake curling around it . I make sure that i don't beat a kid out of a baseball and i do give baseballs to disabled .

California Angels vs Brewers at County Stadium freezing cold April day caught a Reggie Jackson foul and had the entire Brewer team sign it afterward my Boy Scout troop was there to meet them after the game, sigs are kinda faded but still have it.
