the facemask penelty was crap, the late hit #1 was more crap and late hit #2 was total crap, plus they didn't call 2-3 holds/blocks in the back on some of those plays too...

Refs miss those all the time, it's kind of hard to focus on those. There's holding on nearly every single play.

sorry buddy, but this game is not a joke. I was AT the game. and with 2 and a half minutes left Big Ben led a Montana like drive down the field and Holmes made a sick catch to put them ahead. JOKE? Get real. yeah there were penalties, but the 4th Quarter was everything you want a last quarter in a super bowl to be. Your a joke for saying football is a joke.

First of all, he made the post long before the game got exciting. Second, you'd have to be pretty naive to not admit these are the two most non-descript SB teams in awhile.
And to add on to what Snyper said about their Super Bowl opponents...not only were they far from impressive, but guess who they DIDN'T have to play in each AFC Championship they won

Football is the most popular sport and most watched in America, don't see how that makes it a joke. If your bitching about the ref's, I agree, they blew a few calls and this was certainly not one of the better refereed games...but bad calls/missed calls happens in every sport, every game. Maybe this was not the "dream" matchup the NFL and NBC dreamed of, but it was the 2 teams that earned the right to be there and battle for the title. Go ahead and argue that point, but where is your team? At home, just like my team because they weren't good enough through the regular season and/or playoffs to get there. /end argument.

And it was a helluva 4th quarter....

non descript? Umm you have the best Offense against the best Defense. A QB who was thought to be washed up, resurect a team that had been inferior for years and that has a shot to win a SB, i don't know about you, but thats a pretty good story line.
don't talk about who didn't play who, refs all that, the 4th Quarter represented EVERYTHING you could ever ask for in a championship game.

Both teams played really well and what Harrison did was WAY outta line. Doesn't affect the game any, but he should have been thrown out of the game for that. Totally dirty AND deliberate!
NOW, the Seahawks were cheated out of their game and don't deny it! Ben NEVER got into the end zone and they game him the touchdown! THEN when Darrell Jackson got tangled up w/ the defender of the Steelers, they call it on Jackson! COME ON, they were tangled, NOT offensive "pushing off" BS! Give the Seahawks their touchdown it is now 17 instead of 10. Take away the Steelers Ben BS touchdown and it is 14 instead of 21..... Different game there.
ALTHOUGH I will admit the Seahawks DEFINITELY did not play well that game at all!

It was odd watching the Cardinals last night though compared to the Seahawks.... 2 high flying offensive teams w/ OK defense. Not 100% positive about the Cardinals but I know the Seahawks didn't have many penalties on them that year. Then to watch both teams get to the Super Bowl and play against a far superior defensive team and then get penalties up the ying-yang.... just odd to see how similar of a game it was!

why is it a joke?

You have a QB that is scrambling on a dead play and throws it to no one, but a defended chasing said QB can't break his momentum and knocks the QB over and it is a major penalty.

Second, You have a defended that attempts to block a FG and as the football is going through the uprise the defended knocks over the HOLDER and thus the Steelers get 3 more attemps at a TD.

JOKE

It is not safe to allow a defender with a full head of steam to run over a defenseless holder or hit an exposed kicker or snapper for that matter. Second, the defender made no attempt to block the kick...that was a bone headed play.

The replays cleared showed the face mask penalty....there is judgment to calling late hits and that can be debated but the face mask calls were clear as day.
