As some of you know, I am sending in a big order that several other members are hopping in on. I have received requests from some of the submitters for a min grade of 9.5 on their cards. While I understand that they would rather not have the card slabbed if it's not a 9.5, I pose this question to you: if you just paid $10 (or whatever you happen to pay as your grading fee at the time), why wouldn't you want to see the subgrades if it gets less than a 9.5?
I personally would want to see how close it was to getting that 9.5 and more importantly, what flaws held it back from not getting a gem mint grade. I can then use that knowledge to make better decisions on the next order. At worst, the card grades significantly less than a 9.5 and I just crack it out later. The benefit of getting the subgrades is that if it comes back .5 away from a gem, I'll know that I have a chance to bump it later on.
