Can anyone show me an example of what your spreadsheet looks like? I want to start keeping track of losses and profits in my prospecting ventures. Looking for examples on which profits and losses are calculated.

Thanks,
Ant

bballcardkid - that won't help him much assuming he doesn't know how Excel works with the formulas and such. I'll show him the ropes, I love Excel.

Who you prospecting this year, Ant?? 8-)

Well, I wanna see how bad the damage is going to be once I sell out of Madison Bumgarner, which I hope to do at a decent time. He's throwing like..I don't know what..so I guess I'll calculate my losses. ;)

As for who's this year, I've already got mini-stashes started. You'll see, scotty. :D

If I had to guess:

D - Price paid for
E - Price sold for
F - Profit margin before fees
G - Paypal fees
H - Ebay fees

I'm in the mood to guess.

Not sure why it never occurred to me to put the gross price and then have separate columns for fees, but I wish I had just to see the actual amount I sold stuff for. Instead, I enter the final value I take in which is Gross price minus all fees.

Ant- If you want a look at another example, I can post mine up too, although it's pretty much the same as this except I also include columns for 'estimated current sell price' and my 'hopeful future sell point'.

I just like to see how much I make before fees, and then see how much each of the filthy bandits like to take from me :( . So far ebay is robbing me 3 times more than paypal.

I will take a spreadsheet if anyone has one handy.

Thanks,

I love the spreadsheet, but I highly suggest separating first and last name.

Furthermore, if you start going crazy -- a database is a better option than a spreadsheet.

If you want to shoot me over ebay and paypal's fee structure (or links) I'll throw together a spreadsheet for you, but all I have is Open Office. I'd imagine it'd work just dandy, though.

Description:
total purchased:
Fee for grading:
Total investment:
Sold for:
ebay fees
paypal fees
shipping fees
total fees
Net sale:
profit $
GM % before fees
GM % after fees
20% ROI goal based on purchase price

With the assumptions:

1) Total purchase is delivered price.
2) fee for grading encompasses all fees associated with a given order divided by number of cards, even not gems.
3) eBay fees are a flat 12%.
4) Paypal fees are a flat 4%.
5) 20% Return On Investment is a barometer to sell.

That is what mine looks so far, using excel......fine tuning it but always curious what other peeps have.

Matt ~ I will sent it to you once I get the formulas correct if interested send me your addy.
