What a great post. Like others I was really excited for you at first then I noticed the holes.

Disappointed it is not real but this would have been a great April fools day joke if you had held onto it until then.

LOL Thanks guys - y'all are hilarious. I have responses of things like this anywhere from:

AWESOME! to: I'm SOOOO DISAPPOINTED!!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!! to YOU SHOULD HAVE NOT SPILLED THE BEANS!

I did an article on a 1990 Donruss Rated Rookie Frank Thomas - it was a riot. I made the card, and everything. I was being very sly about it all, and did say it was a joke at the end, but not in so many words, and people still believed it. Then several got upset, saying I should have been more explicit about it being a joke.

Regarding the I have too much time on my hands: I see this as a facet of my hobby. I love writing and making up stories, so while it isn't the manliest of hobbies, I sure do get a kick out of it :)

Last but not least, just as an update: I busted it out of the wrapper just to see how pretty it would look in a one touch:

I guess the only thing left to do would be to actually get it signed some day!

You had me until the letter. That was the only part that didn't ring true.

I thought the story was enthralling and the quality of your pictures was amazing.

I completely and thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

I absolutely love it. Great read. As always, great work on the cards. You impress me every time.

*The first clue to me was the fact only 25 cards were produced. My idiot brain thought, "Surely, this grocery store didn't go through all of the trouble of producing a baseball card that was limited to a print run of only 25."

Coupla problems:

1. Steinbach > Jose.

2. Do they even have Grocery stores in Huntsville or anywhere else in Alabama?

You should have stuck with Lucky's. We still have one of those. Or gone obscure but true and used Big Brother. Halfway thru that was planning a trip to Ft. Book to check the Hsv Times archives.

Either way, your fictional cards beat what Topps, Panini and Leaf are producing.
