Yeah guys, I literally just answered those off of the top of my head without checking anything because most of them say what they are directly on the subject, less the Red Foley's and the JKA.

Thinking about it, I think the MVP is from 1994, as it celebrates his 1993 MVP award.

Yeah my original was to try to identify them in the book but now I am seeing most are not in there.

Thanks for the help!

Happy Tuesday! For many, this is the first day of work in the new year, for others it's the same grind as usual. Either way, here's how I'm bringing in 2012 with some of my newest pick-ups over the last 2 weeks. As I've always said, when it rains it pours. Hope you enjoy.

First up is a pair of Toronto Blue Jays era 2007-2008 GU/Issued cleats. These are black on white cleats and a style not commonly seen worn by Big Frank. I've found tons of pictures of him wearing Black Nikes (he wore that style when he hit #500)...but the white based are proving to be a bit tougher to style match thus far. It is POSSIBLE that these were 05 Sox issues that he brought with him to Oakland as he jumped from team to team in his final years.

Next is a new addition to my bat collection. This guy shows light use and has a piece missing from the handle from when it was broke. What makes this bat "extra special" to me is that it is MLB Authenticated (I have never seen another MLB Auth Thomas bat). This bat was two games, or 6 at-bats, away from being the bat that hit number 500. Alas, its destiny would be to break in the seventh inning of a 0-4 performance. I find it interesting to note that MLB was anticipating his #500 and began having staffers around to authenticate the items on the historic day.

To my surprise I won this auction late last night. I honestly expected this to slip through my hands with a last minute bidding surge...BUT that didn't happen. LOL. While its not in hand yet, I wanted to share in this update. This contract carried Thomas's Topps card for 5 years: 91, 92, 93, 94, 95. As discussed previously, one contract predates this one (1989) and one could estimate that perhaps another 4 postdate it. Happy to be adding this to the collection. FINALLY landed a Topps contract!

Here is my favorite pick-up though (as much as I love the other items, THIS has become a new favorite). I've been searching for a Thomas GU helmet for a long time...won a couple via auction, but reserves weren't met and the seller never sold it. So, to me, it's been a glaring hole in the collection. Also, acquiring a 1990 style Thomas item seems slim to none. Here is a 1990 GU Frank Thomas batting helmet. Sizing is correct and the born-on-inner-date code matches the time period. While the number on the outside appears to have possibly been restored (remember that Frank started the year as #15 before switching to his #35), it's hard to ignore the aged "35" written on the inner padding! It wouldn't surprise me if a mid season sticker change helped to cause the adhessive glue to release over time (remember this helmet is 22 years old). I reached out to a couple of other GU collectors who shared a similar opinion on the helmet. This is his rookie year helmet.

Amazing stuff there Wade! I thought that Topps contract would go a bit higher so I stopped bidding at $400. Being that it was for the 1995 season, I was not sure how many more were before it. Pretty awesome that he signed that one prior to entering the majors!

I am glad to see someone here got that contract. I was watching it but of course was in no position to pull the trigger.

I nearly put a $500 bid on the contract, but talked myself out of it (home renovations will win out vs cards this year). But I was surprised to see it didn't go past the $404 bid. Congratulations on a great item.

I wonder what Frank got from the catalog.

I don't even think I am gonna collect the pre-1997 anymore guys. I have talked about selling for a while and I chatted with a friend today for a short time through email. I have determined that I just don't have the drive anymore. Its all for sale or trade for current player autos etc.

Anybody know what these are? They have been listed a coupe times with a terrible title. Some big names including Thomas. I'd be interested in the Puckett if anyone picks them up. Excuse my terrible job cutting and pasting into paint; the lines on the middle pic are from me.

I don't know about that $110 figure or his spelling, but it would seem more will be listed.

Is this just some random unlicensed card?

Yes, it is. I just posted it here initially in case a Thomas collector was interested since the only reference to him the the auction was the name "Franks".

Someone had asked me to post a few of my nicer cards. These were the ones I felt were worth showing the most.

The porcelain cards were just aftermarket jobs licensed by Topps through R&N Porcelain with technology from Mitsubishi (who later contributed to the 1997 & 1998 Preferred Precious Metals cards).

The gold card is also aftermarket, 1992 ProMint MVP 22k Gold; there is also a promo version.

The card numbered PP6 is the 1996 Topps Pre-Production promo.

The Big Heart was a pack advertisement insert.

The Magnets are later Chris Martin Enterprises Pro Mag items.

The Lid is a ballpark frozen yogurt treat lid from parks around the country.

The red/yellow thing is an Uncut Button from the early '90s JKA pinbacks.

The others are Red Foley Sticker cuts...think the right one is from 1991 or 2...not sure about the other one.

I thought the ProMint card was more like 1994 or 1995, but I will yield to Ross' expertise.

The Big Heart advertisement insert shown was for the 1997 Big Heart Set

The frozen yogurt lid was from a brand called FroZSnacks High Screamers. Like Ross said, they were sold in baseball parks in 1999. There were actually three different colors - blue, green and orange.

I have heard the uncut button be classified as Carol Wright and JKA Pinbacks (which I personally use in my collection).

The two Red Foley stickers are from 1991 and 1992 - The one on the right (#111) is from 1991 and the one on the left (#93) is from 1992.

Hope that helps.

Rick,
The ProMint gold card is a 1994 issue. On the back of the card in the lower left corner it says "copyright" symbol 1994. :)
