I am in the process of picking up two new Game Used items of our guy, a HR bat (#484 and a GLOVE!!!). I'll post pics in a week or so when they arrive :) I'm completely beside myself and had to share with you guys. My fiancee is buying the bat for me. This is the second glove of Franks that I'll own...and arguably the hardest game used item(s) to obtain. A little sad that he is offically announcing today, however glad that he is getting a press conference and all the love that he deserves. Sox are retiring his number in August...I've heard the 2nd or the 26th. Looks like we might all finally meet face to face in cooperstown in 2014 :P Happy collecting!!!!!!!!

A sad day indeed, but not surprising. After last season, I expected him to hang 'em up.
Glad to see the Sox not hesitating with the number, especially after his exit from the team.

Wade, where do you get most of your items?

I should also let you guys know that there are a couple of Thomas jerseys on craigslist for sale as game used jerseys. I highly advise you to stay away...at best these are issued jerseys that have been signed and never saw the light of day on the playing field. Sox gamers have strip tags that include the year, size, and set number...the ones offered on craigslist show year, size, and jersey number. NOT GAME USED. I would hate for anyone to make a $700 mistake.

It was announced by the White Sox on Friday that Thomas' No. 35 will become the 10th uniform number retired by the White Sox during an on-field ceremony at U.S. Cellular Field on "Frank Thomas Day," scheduled for Aug. 29 prior to a 1:05 p.m. CT first pitch against the Yankees.

My wife said I can go.

BUT, it's the weekend after school starts, it may be hard for me to make it. I'm going to try though.

Guys, just looking for a few quick opinions on the market for a PSA 9 Auburn Issue. The last one to sell went just shy of $400 almost 2 years ago...do you think the market is as strong, stronger, or weaker for this issue now?

Ross,
I think the market is on the up swing right now, there are a lot of Frank stuff being listed (twice as much I want to say). His on card autos have taken a slight swing upwards. Hoping I'll see some PC stuff. I think sellers are pulling out their Thomas cards trying to take advantage of his retirement announcement. I hope you picked up this one which was just listed and stolen for that price IMO....

Jesse,
Nice sale on that 9.5 Tiffany, wasn't that the one you bought from me years ago?

I think it was. You were offering free shipping from hawaii, and I thought that was too sweet to pass up. Was it $75ish?

Yes sir, that was me. I haven't seen that well centered of a PSA 9 in some time. It looks very CLEAN. I've already paid for it, but I was thinking about selling my PSA 9 Auburn issue to put the money back into savings...my only issue...to me, my PSA 9 is much cleaner than my Gem Mint 10. I didn't want to sell it until I had at least one resubmission under my belt.

Anyway, with the market what it is, I feel like I got a very good price. I started at $750 on my offers, admittedly low, he countered $950...then accepted my absolute final offer. I had intended to pay as much as $1200 for a PSA 9 later this year, but I wasn't ready to do it as I had just spent part of that money on a Clemente RC. My wife is really great, she says, "ehh, you always find a way to put the money back, and if you don't we won't worry about it." She doesn't get my hobby, but she knows it keeps me happy.

By the way, I have some cards for you that are just sitting in my card room. I've been trying to catch up on my packages from the move, but I've only been able to send a few out a week. Your's is on the table to go out with the next batch.

Jesse,
Yup that was mine plus, I always use free shipping for my auctions. Nice flip ;)

Ross,
WOW...congrads on that final piece to your PSA puzzle! Absolutely awesome price, I paid $1300 for my PSA 9 if my noggin remembers correctly. Mine has the same little, oil looking dot, on the blue area where his name is supposed to be. I noticed that on majority of these issues. Again, congrads on that fine piece and.................fine price! ;) List the Auburn issue with a BIN/BO to see what's in the water.

OK guys, President's Day today, wife and I are off, little one doesn't have school, can only mean one thing.....................beach! LOL
