So, this isn't exactly Big Hurt related, but there is a connection.

-------

Some of your know that I found a sealed set of 1987 Auburn Tigers Greats a year ago and was shocked to see the only Bo Jackson card featured in the set had Bo in football gear. After doing more digging, I found that two different sets, with only slight differences, were released. It is the other set, presumably an earlier release, that includes Bo at bat. Slowly but surely I've been piecing together both sets, but I've certainly never seen a complete 1st series.

Fast forward. I recently came across one oddball item: an uncut sheet of '86-'87 UNC Tarheels basketball cards with 3 1st Series Auburn Tigers Greats...including Bo at bat.

Don't think I didn't do some digging to see if an uncut sheet with Big Frank existed with this item...sadly it didn't. Other than owning an uncut NNOF sheet, an '87 Auburn Greats with Big Frank is my dream uncut sheet.

The presence of the '86-'87 UNC team with these three Auburn cards further solidifies my belief that the Bo at bat set is a first series released in the spring of '87, and the set with Big Frank is a second series released in the fall of '87.

On a side note, notable names on the UNC squad include J.R. Reid and Jeff Lebo, Auburn's very own head basketball coach.

That would be incredible if you get the uncut sheet! You already have the PSA 10 of this card......so what could be better!

Wow...that scan turned out like sh*t!

Randy: Great few days of mail!

That is awesome! I remember seeing those when I was a kid, but does anyone remember how much they retailed for back then?

I have the Robin Ventura one. As close to Frank as I could get. I've been looking for 10 years. I remember when Wal -Mart and K-Mart and those places sold them, then they went on clearance. Man what a deal. Why cant we find deals like that anymore.

I think they started at $20. Went down to $10 and then the last of them went for $4 or $5.

I don't know. This one came from a Hawaiian santa that can't swim very fast.

Chris, you get my e-mail(s)? Also, looks like the Bagwell was $50, then marked down to $10.

Chad, I emailed you back.
Does anyone know how many players that Treat had in the Auto Deal?

Speaking of oddball......this was also a recent mail day. This is one promo card that there should be a a fair number out there, but this is the first one that I have noticed in a very long time.

These are also two oddball items that are pretty hard to find that I am thinking about listing on E-Bay. Are any of you interested prior to me listing these?

Oh you just drew first blood!

"When" and "if" you ever make it down here, I'll increase your start to 15 seconds and we'll put some "premium" Thomas cards on the line. AND if your up to it, which I HIGHLY doubt, we can always do the 1 kilometer swim ;)

Bring it on.....

Hey Jesse,
No problem on that hour time (750m), you see....Chad takes about an hour to do 25m, AND that's in a "heated" pool without natural water temp, wind, and current conditions! Gotta get out of here before he comes on ;)

In the event that any of you guys are interested, I just listed the following Thomas auction for a very hard to find card (1995 Select AP superstar checklist card). Trying to make some $$ in order to buy some of Chad's cards on his website. ;)

http://cgi.ebay.com/1995-Select-AP-Grif ... 2a05945456

I would like to thank a couple of Frank Thomas collectors out there who bid this up higher than I could have imagined! I can't believe that it went for $105! It is more rare than the Pinnacle AP.......so I guess that is what might have drove it. What have you guys seen happen on this issue in the past on E-Bay?
I bought mine for under $5 and that's including shipping but in everybody's defense it had a crappy title (I think it was like 1995 Select Artists Proof CL or something like that).

Does anyone know how many of these were actually produced?
