Heyward was hit by a pitch in the foot yesterday while pinch hitting. I imagine they're being cautious and it's nothing serious. The bust label is a little bit premature...

Yes, Freddie crushed that ball to dead center. Hinske crushed his too

I was talking about this with some friends at work yesterday. Jason is starting to turn into Jeff Francoeur - all the hype but limited production, while Freddie is going the way of Brian McCann - less fanfare but a much better major leaguer.

First time I saw Freeman this year I was impressed at how patient he was at the plate. I wasn't worried about his BA when it was low because I knew that he wasn't a free swinging first pitch Frenchy type. Heyward seems to lose focus when he isn't hurt.

This is true, and we're also talking about 2 players that have 2 mlb years combined

Things I like to do:

NOT JUDGE SOMEONE BEFORE THEY TURN 22-YEARS OLD. Jesus.

Not ready to write off Heyward yet but he's been a major disappointment in his second season.

I thought early in the season when he was struggling might not be a bad idea to send him down for a stint and see if he can demolish AA or AAA and get some confidence back.

Heyward has performed when he hasn't been hurt. Heyward has not performed up to his expectations but his expectations were through the roof. Heyward has definitely contributed to the production of the Braves this year though.

I think the Travis Snider route to success isn't a bad idea, but you've really got to be careful because you can shatter the dude.

The thing that bothers me so much watching Heyward is that he takes so many hittable pitches, he does walk a bunch, but its annoying when he takes 2 straight fastballs in a situation where a walk doesn't help at all.

Freddie is killin it! Seems like each game he becomes a better hitter. Has started going opposite field alot. I like what I see. Heyward just needs to learn to play effiectively through pain. I think he has had alot of nagging injuries and rather than slump he'd just prefer to sit out. He needs to lose that mentality. Then again with the braves still playing so well even without him in the line up maybe if he can truly get back to 100%, get in some kind of groove heading down the stretch i'll forgive him. It's way too early to say hes a bust though.
