Gotta love this. Do these guys not get it after the Braun debacle. I hope he is innocent for MLB sake.

The Phillies are having "one of those years" where nothing goes right and the team never quite gets off the ground.

Not a big loss for the Phils, he was out with a bad back...

But I wonder what these guys who are lucky to be on the Roster are thinking to try this, especially at the MLB level? You made it, don't risk it. I can see marginal Minor Leaguers who think they need that possible "boost" but Galvis had made it, was virtually guarenteed a spot with Utley's injury, so I gotta ask Why try and risk losing that?

BTW, not the First Phillies player busted either...

Claims the banned substance was found at 80 parts per Trillion in his system and that he doesn't know how it got there. I don't know what 80 parts per trillion means exactly - although it sounds minuscule to me - but it was enough for the ban-hammer.

There's some chemical evidence that this trace amount could be obtained through eating beef. That being said, the back fracture is an injury that could come from steroid usage.

Irregardless, he was out for 50 games for rehabbing the back injury, so the suspension is meaningless.

And no, he's not the first Phillies player to be suspended for illegal substances, but JC Romero was able to prove that his came from an MLB-approved supplement.

If he was truly using, more than 80 parts per trillion would have been found.

He should have been practicing safe sex. I'd rather be suspended for 50 games then pay child support for 18 years.

This is irrelevant anyway. Utley's doing AWESOME playing 2B for the Threshers down here in Clearwater (my son is in Threshers camp right now, but hasn't seen Utley or Howard -- and I was there for a few hours yesterday, didn't see them either). He's batting just under his weight right now, in the low 100s, and playing a bangup adequate job of second base. So, he'll be back up in the majors by the all-star break, assuredly.... where he'll bat worse than Galvis did.

(sigh)
