Just an idea....
But instead of a coin toss, why not start a thread with a poll. Let it run till 10:00PM tonight and the one with the most votes wins! Should be more interesting that a coin toss, no? Anywho... Just an idea.

$1,000 is a lot of scratch for someone in college to tie up on a baseball card.

Turning down an $800 profit minus fees (plus the 1000 I spent on it) as a college student at a time when I was somewhat strapped for money was something I couldn't reason myself to do. I decided I would take what I need from the sale for my life outside the baseball card world and put the rest toward other Porcello cards.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that most people would make the same decision given the situation.
Also, I bought the Black Status specifically as an investment. I knew in the back of my mind that if he turned out to be a bust, I would be happy to keep it...but 99% of the time, I try not to cross my prospecting ventures with my collection. I look at prospecting as a business that is completely separate from collecting, so when I got the offer, I took it.

I would have loved a shot at it...but I only collect 1/1 so guess that doesn't count...but I do have over 60 1/1 but that would have been one of best ones.

Contest would be
1. Pick World Series winner
2. Both teams in WS
3. # of games the WS takes
4. MVP of WS
if more tie breakers were needed
total home runs in WS
total runs WS
Would be fun to follow everyones picks as playoff go on. Open thread and sticky it to the top and leave it open till first pitch of playoffs start on Wednesday, then close it. See who FCB WS pickem champ is.
Contest would be

I've been starting to pick up Porcello stuff, but I wouldn't call my self a dedicated collector yet. He's been somebody I look up to. Watched him play at Seton Hall Prep about every other week. Amazing how their area looked/looks up to him. He pitched 7 innings of 2 hit ball and 13 K's against my high school in his senior year. Good luck to Shep and Hype
