This is so completely confusing that I couldn't resist pointing it out. "Teambrinkz" is pumping these out at record pace. So if this is you, I genuinely mean no offense...

I'm a rabid collector and have bought tons of stuff that was in retrospect was just silly. Stuff that I would not admit that I purchased. However these mini sketch/painting cards... I just don't see it. Some are honestly decent but others were clearly entered in the junior high art fair. The player is totally unrecognizable in a good number of them. (All of them are infinitely better than I could do.) How are these possibly selling for $20, $30, even $100? Kudos, you've clearly hit on a mini ($1,000) goldmine on OV cards alone. This hobby never ceases to amaze me. Keep printing money man... strike while the iron's hot!

Anyone here buying this stuff?

UPDATE
Check out the list of completed auctions from this seller alone. Does this make any sense whatsoever? (Sorry, can't figure out how to post the sold auctions correctly so you'll have to click the SOLD filter)

I've seen a few Oleruds and while I kind of like some of the artwork and old Topps designs, I wouldn't spend money on them and don't include them on my checklist.

I do not have any personally but if the art was nice, I would consider it. This artist does great work.

A bit more than I would like to pay for one right now but they are pretty cool, in general, not talking about these specifically even though these aren't horrible. Maybe someday I would invest in a few for my favorite players.

As much as they are "1/1" i don't like the way they present them as such

I bought a few of the early cards when they were not so common. However, as noted, they are being churned out faster and faster these days. I guess if you collect certain popular players, the market may be flooded immediately. Lesser known players might see a surge in price until all of the pother artists figure out there are buyers, then they flood the market too.

Because they are endless as long as artists want to draw subjects, I stopped buying them. Lots of people have artistic talent and paying $30-75 or more for these is just a money pit in the works. I'd probably be happy to pay $5 or less for nicer cards now, but not much more unless they were extremely special looking.

I could understand not wanting to pay too much but $5 or less for one is too little IMO. Each is a unique piece, right? How long would it take to create one? At $5 or less, it would not be worth the time for the artist, other than name exposure.

I didn't say it would be worth the artist's time to sell them for lesser amounts. There is the decision the artist needs to make if it is all about selling and profit. Can he/she sell this creation four enough to justify their time invested? Maybe, maybe not. If it is about exposure or just trading, as these types of cards apparently derived from originally, then gutting the cards pout to many different people may be a good thing regardless of the cost.

To me it depends on the card itself and how it looks. I would be willing to pay more for one if it caught my eye. I always like to add to the Garvey collection when I can.

Hell, I just bought a poster that I believe was custom made and spent about $30 on it. I don't think it was mass produced and may be one of a kind. I wish it were a manufactured poster, because it was extremely cool looking, but if it were I'd probably have seen and owned one by now.
