First of all, I’m not a player collector; I’m a first-year/RC collector so I really don’t know why I did this other than the fact that not many people bid on Pedro Alvarez’ cards (not much competition). He seems to be a decent young player too!
Anyway…besides his 2010 e-Topps card, I consider Pedro’s rookie cards to be the 2011 releases. Due to the # of at-bats he had in 2010 (when he had no licensed cards) making him ineligible for rookie of the year considerations last year, his 2011 cards do not have the RC logo. Even without the logo, they’re his first-year licensed cards (from packs).
He had 122 different licensed cards from 13 products in 2011, along with 41 printing plates (which I don’t collect). Over the past few months (for the most part) I’ve picked up 81 of them.
The neatest one might be the Topps Opening Day card since it glows in the dark! Hopefully he signs his autograph redemptions some time this decade. If so, I’m sure my favorite will then be the Museum Collection auto.
So, until I have time to properly scan them and put them on a web page, here are some crappy group photos broken down by set. There are 8 more cards that I would like to eventually get a copy of (listed at the end), so if anyone has a lead on any of those cards please let me know.
Enjoy; and if anyone has some Alvarez cards they’d like to show off, feel free to do so!
(cough…morgoth…cough)
Still looking for a copy of these 8 cards:
