I don't know if anyone else was interested in this, but I was curious to see the ratings for the Draft compared to the NBA playoffs going on at the same time.
I figured the NFL must have won......but man it wasn't even close.

NFL draft blows out NBA playoffs in ratings battle
Posted by Michael David Smith on April 23, 2010 3:29 PM ET
More than twice as many people watched the NFL draft than the NBA playoffs on Thursday night.

The combined overnight rating for the first round of the draft was a 6.42, with ESPN generating a 5.47 rating and NFL Network getting 0.95. TNT got a 2.1 rating for the Chicago Bulls' NBA playoff win over the Cleveland Cavaliers and a 3.0 rating for the Oklahoma City Thunder's win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

The numbers are the latest reminder that in American sports, nothing even comes close to the NFL. That's why the NFL's decision to schedule a regular-season game at the same time as the World Series is just good business sense.

It's also why Mark Cuban's complaints about the scheduling of the draft are silly: If the NBA doesn't want to go head-to-head with the NFL draft in prime time, it should move its games to the daytime.

Such arrogance.

These league's have to work together in a symbiotic relationship. If the NFL starts overstepping, it won't just cause problems for MLB/NBA/NHL, but the NFL too.

You've got feather and wax wings, son. Don't fly too close to the sun or sea.

I wouldn't call scheduling NFL games at the same time as World Series games good business sense, for either sport.

Goodell had done a great job promoting the league.

Goodell will go down as the best commish ever.

He's off to a great start but the labor problems of next year need to be solved.

Yah. Obviously, I believe Rozelle is the king-pin, but Goddell is just off to an amazing start as you said.

I'm banking of Goddell implementing a Rookie-Cap and at least a half-decent agreement for the owners. The man sets his mind to something and gets it done. Just a Brilliant BRILLIANT MAN!

I think I'd rather watch NICKJr. instead of the NBA playoffs, especially the early couple of rounds.

Doesn't the NFL draft cover every team throughout the entire country? How many people throughout the country had their team playing in the NBA playoffs during the NFL draft?

Obviously more people care about football than basketball, but comparing the NFL draft which affects every team to a couple playoff games that affect a small portion of the country doesn't mean very much to me. But that's just me I guess. ::facepalm::

I'm a firm believer that playoffs, in any sport, are king.

I'm not a huge hockey fan, but watching Hossa net the winner after that five minute major was pretty incredible.

Football's the best sport to watch on TV, but with that said, I'd take UEFA CL, Hockey, Baseball, NBA, any major bowl game, or any March madness tourney game over a regular season football game.

Well that's like saying you wouldn't bother watching the wild card games if your team isn't in the playoffs.
And I really don't think most people would say that.

This is the NBA Playoffs, granted it's not the finals, but these are their big money/rating games....not to mention those games featured major markets and the two biggest stars - Kobe and Lebron. Yes the NFL draft effects all teams, but it's been seen as a niche event, something you can keep tabs on online, tune in and out of, something for the die hard fans.......I think it speaks volumes to how far ahead the NFL is in popularity.
