How do you player/team collectors catalogue these things? By the year of the season on the card? Or using that season + 1?

Also, anybody familiar with the Pursue the Pennant game? I've got three different seasons with the same 1987 copyright year on them. Did they do multiple seasons in one year?

I go with the season on the card. Can't say I'm familiar with Pursue the Pennant, however.
