Game used .... sock?

This auction is over now, but I can not seem to figure what this game used piece is of. My best guess would be that it comes from the ridges on a tube sock. Or maybe a part of an elastic band, maybe from pants? I really have no clue what this is. Anyone with any better ideas?

It really does look like sock material. Early guess is that they had jersey swatches of Jorge (as evidence by other cards in the set) in their stock but apparently had no "patch" swatches. Might have thought they'd just substitute in some other "non basic" ~premium~ material in lieu of patches instead of more redemptions that wouldn't get filled

Jacket cuff is a good thought. I wish they would just put on the card what piece of material it is.

Ohhhh from the inside? That makes sense. I was thinking for the older style elastic it should have black as well but if they're from inside the pants that explains that. Think I'd rather have a sock though
