Why in the WORLD did Bill Hall start tonight- he hasnt has a hit in days - dont know if he has gotten any bat on the ball to be honest and Gamel doesnt start.. If he can hit.. he should be in there against Oswalt especially if he is going to play thsi weekend against the Twinkies

I heard a theory today that I can get with-

Hall is on his last legs. Gamel has come up and might be here to stay if: when he bats DH this weekend vs/ the Twins, he tears it up, he'll be moved into a platoon with Hall. Macha will get to pass the buck, saying the bat can't be denied (even though he all but PROMISED Hall was the guy, like Hall's fracking Rex Grossman or something), and Gamel will eventually take over. Hall then gets traded or becomes an over-paid bench player.

I just had a similiar conversation yesterday - basically that if Gamel's presence doesn't light a fire under Hall in the next couple of weeks, they're going to dump him for whatever they can get - even if it means eating some of his contract. Melvin's been busy this week churning the lower end of the roster, but he's obviously out there talking to people. With them 11 over .500 at the quarter pole and attendance as strong as it is, they're going to be buyers again this year.

agreed.

Tom Haudricourt sums it up best in this blog post

I think you both are seriously over-estimating what we can actually do with Hall involving another team. The contract is bloated and I am not sure that they can move him.

I do think they will be buyers around the trade deadline. I just can't express enough how thrilled I am for their hot start. No one in Milwaukee thought they would be this good.

after the 4-9 start, I don't think ANYONE, ANYWHERE thought they'd be doing this well.

And I agree, I don't think they'll be able to do anything with Hall; unless Seattle falls far out of it and Zack G thinks he can "fix" Hall much like Melvin has done with other reclamation projects over the years. Even then, they still won't get **** for him and will probably have to eat some contract.
