Well at least it wasn't the "Mantle HomeRun Card #1" from 06. There was one of those in just about every other pack

Yikes.I was hoping WCG had bit the dust a long time ago.Did you get those boxes at Target?Mine has those, but I've resisted buying that junk so far.

Years ago, I remember late at night HSN or some other channel would showcase crap WCG slabs, and it was funny how the hosts of the show would get so exited over selling WCG slabs of base cards that were virtually worthless. They would always try to pass garbage minor league/college cards off as "rookies" and they were always in WCG slabs.I doubt one card was worth more than $3 in the whole lot.

Ignorant HSN host: "Grab these rare Leinart, Young, and Bush rookies graded gem mint!Only $59.99 each! What a great future investment of such rare (they were nothing but base Score rookies I think) superstar cards in gem mint condition!Hurry now before supplies run out!"

Walmart. I had to give it a shot to see what I could pull. Never know until you try. SOMEONE has to pull the pujols RC auto, or the ichiro RC, etc. etc.

I've tried many a time, and years ago Target and Walmart had decent mixed pack boxes, but lately they're painfully dry. They even put in free BGS submission vochers then as well as Beckett magazines.

Variety boxes now a days are NO WHERE near as good as the ones from 1999-2002.

Used to have v boxes with topps reserve, 94 flair, ATFF, American pie, powerdeck, etc. etc. etc. all in the same box For $10 you would get roughly $30-$45 worth of packs. Ugh.

What do you do with all this garbage that you just pulled?

Stars and inserts get put in one box, all base commons will get divided up into team sets. The mantle, who knows.

I miss those days.As late as '05 I pulled a nice Edmonds patch out of UD Game Face in one of those variety boxes. One box shockingly even had a pack of '02 Bowman's Best in it.The ones at Target always had 1-2 packs of Bowman Draft (this was when you could pull decent stuff out of retail), UD Prospect Premieres, Donruss Classics, Topps Chrome, etc.--pretty good stuff like you mentioned.Best of all, all the packs were showing and you had a pretty good idea what you were getting inside. Many of them had a "bonus" inside too, ranging from junk trinkets, to scrub autographs, to insert cards.I have a couple BGS slabs with a piece of jersey in the slab that were some of the "bonus" items.Usually a fun break, and at the very least you'd get a game used card and some nice parallels or inserts. Now it's just crap filled with '89 Topps and '90 Donruss, etc.

I've read most of your breaks, and that stamp you pulled was nice, but almost all of them now are dead.Really just a waste of money.
