I wouldve traded Street for Holliday after the season Matt had. That was a good deal that did not pan out like they hoped.

Because the A's felt like the could contend this year? Obviously it didn't pan out..but they tried.

Why did the Giants sign Randy Johnson? Obviously, it's because they felt like they could contend. Some signs work out, some do not. The A's season was doomed from Spring Training, when they lost Chavvy, their original closer in Joey Devine, and our ace in Justin Duchscherer. It's tough to come back from something like that.
