I actually agree with Titans oddly enough. In Chicago they had a ton of veteran leadership from Pierzynski, Konerko, etc. which provided a good balance between reality and Ozzie's outbursts or other public displays of emotion. The Marlins don't have that leadership at all, Hanley ought to step up but he probably won't ever. He just seems like he's in it for #1. Of course that's just my opinion but I, too, think Ozzie Guillen is as big of a cancer to a team as any player could be if they don't have the team chemistry and leadership to overcome it.

He really is struggling this year.

I unlocked his 2011 topps diamond embedded 1/1 and thought about keeping it.

Ended up selling it before the season started for $750 because I had a hunch he would struggle all year with that knee injury and not produce. I'm so glad I sold it.

Remember last year all of the threads about how Jeter was done, washed up and couldnt hit anymore? How has he been ding lately? Its 1 month into the season. Stanton can turn it around. The big problem with Stanton is that he may never be what a lot of people expect him to be.

I am not saying he won't turn it around. I am discussing his current performance and approach.

I am not even worried about the power. It seems that HE is worried about the power, and trying to hit every pitch 550 feet. If this guy has all of the "natural power" that is claimed, why does he need to swing as hard as Sammy Sosa every pitch? And look atrocious half the time? I just don'tget it.

I'm not asking this to be facetious: who was the last Super Rookie to not fall back the next year? Heyward did it. Strasburg got hurt. Posey got hurt. Starlin Castro is pretty consistant I guess. Freddie Freeman is consistant as well.

Yeah I know what you're saying.

What makes me not worry about his approach is that he still drives the ball better to the opposite field than most players in the game. When Sosa was at his best, he was doing this too. When Sosa was at his worst, all he wanted to do was yank the ball 550 feet to left field. A balanced approach is a key to success, hitting the ball where it's pitched shows me that even if Stanton is off to a bit of a cold start, he's got the right approach in mind, at least most of the time. That said, there are definitely times when he looks like a little leaguer out there swinging and missing badly, especially on breaking pitches outside.

I think perhaps the fact he missed a large portion of Spring Training meant he was about 3-4 weeks behind everyone else.

6 homers in 9 games (and a 7 game Marlins win streak) looks like maybe Giancarlo is back to being Mike Stanton.

I'm freaking thrilled about it.

His HRs recently have been lasers. It sounds like his bat is breaking on every one they are so crushed.

It's good to see him back on track. I'm still kinda worried about Marlins Park though. I hope it doesn't diminish his HRs much. Considering he doesn't hit cheap HRs maybe it doesn't.
